An absolutely cracking truss of tomatoes! Are there many above them ?

The last time I thought about total truss weight, I had a truss of 5 'Bulgarian' toms where the heaviest was 2lbs 8ozs and the smallest about 12ozs, so probably over 8lbs.

P.S. Put a tape measure around them and check their girths, that should enable a pretty reliable estimation of weights.

 

Give the Gigantomo a try. Massive and by god they were delicious too.

 

First lot of Black Russians picked. Not as big as black krim but they’re very tasty! Also picking my Crimson Cherries which are bigger than I expected! Good taste but I probably won’t try again next year

 

What about whether grown outdoors or undercover? My polytunnel and outdoor Crimsom Crush tomatoes appear as if completely different varieties.

 

Whoops pressed the wrong tab!! They’re too close together to get a tape measure round!! The trusses above are smaller with less fruit but overall not a bad result! Interestingly, the black krims I have growing in the cheapo Lidl plastic greenhouse are doing much better than the ones in the glass greenhouse!

The first handful of Tumbling Toms grown in 10L pots.





They are juicy and very umami tasting - a vast improvement on last year.

 

I've grown Tumbling Toms too, both the red and yellow varieties. They're pretty good but one thing I've found....in that really hot weather they stopped producing flowers; completely stopped, not just didn't set but there have been no new trusses for about a month. I've not experienced this before. Mine are in a south facing lean to gh and now have shading but I was perhaps tardy in introducing the shading.

 

....and prob pollination problem.

 

How can pollination be a problem if there were no flowers ?
