"Hello!" from the Head Gardener's Dogsbody

I'm new around here, and with my partner Jo ("The Head Gardener") we maintain our mixed herbaceous/edible garden near Warrington in Cheshire. The garden is about 65ft by 30ft and is on soil that is mainly heavy clay...though oddly has 'stripes' of sand in it. Here are a few photographs for anyone interested.

Thank You Perki and Wee Tam. I'd very much like to take the credit for the garden, but modesty (and the honest truth) prevents me! My main role in the garden is building structures (eg the reclaimed brick paths, raised beds, fencing), planting out the veg, and general garden maintenance (watering, weeding, thinning). The creative genius is my 'other half' Jo who has the green fingers, the knowledge of lots of Latin names and the colour coordination!

Yes Wee Tam, I'll happily share the fruits of my dubious expertise if I can be of help ;-)

Your partner seems the same as myself...other half does the structure work and maintenance...while we with green fingers keep it right..but regarding names good on Jo, as i'm totally useless and all my tags over the years have headed straight for the bin...Oh dear

 

Thanks to CanadianLori, Armandi and Gail_68 for your kind words.....it's much appreciated! Here's a few more recent pictures from the long, hot, dry Summer of 2018. We're both mad for the 'Cottage Garden' look and the garden has lots of Delphiniums, Phlox, Lythrums and in these photos, Lysimachia, Gaura and Persicaria. I hope you enjoy......

The plant at the back is Lysimachia clethroides, also known as the 'Gooseneck Loosestrife'. I hope this helps.

Hello Dogsbody (That sounds well for a forum name) ...mines a Itea Virginica "Henry's Garnet" I should have stated it really ...just that the flowers seem similar and I only know the name because I've finally learnt to keep the tags

Thanks for that, the flower spikes on your Itea are very attractive and they do look like the Lysimachia.
I find it very useful to keep a note of the botanical names of the plants we bring into the garden - especially so if the original dies over winter and you need to replace it! It's also useful if you need to diagnose problems with the plant or if visitors take a liking to a plant in your garden and want to buy one for their own.
