This morning was perfect for working in the garden. Cool and sunny. I spent quite a bit of time picking four types of beans, rhubarb, blackberries and windfalls and then, just as I finished, the heavens opened for half an hour.

Finally after 10 weeks we got rain, actually we got enough to last another 10 weeks. Just had a tremendous thunderstorm overhead with thunder, lightning and hail. Luckily I was home as our gutters overflowed and water somehow got inside our house, ran down an inside wall trickling into a switch and making the lights come on and off - thought it was all part of the storm to start with. Pulled a fuse and now waiting for the switch to dry out before touching it.

A downpour yesterday evening, and a heavy shower this morning, first proper rain in a couple of months. No need to spend hours and hours carrying water to my plot.

And it's now cool enough to walk Dog throughout the day, rather than getting up at 5:00 every day. Also cool enough to put some wine on, furious fementations don't produce the best flavours.

Too true, I hate hot weather. It's now cool enough to work inside polytunnels, plants will grow better inside them, I wont use all my energy watering, plants will be slower running to seed, picking Blackberries (and now Elderberries) will be bearable for longer periods during the day, same with throwing a tent in the car for a couple of days away, I'd rather it be frosty than 25 deg C overnight.
