IMG_1145.JPG IMG_1143.JPG Been picking the delights of the garden this morning, come on rhubarb and blackberry crumble for tea tonight.

The marrows are big and we need to find a good recipe that's tasty.

Right, repaired niece's dog-dug lawn; told him off in a very stern voice for doing it then took him for a run and gave him a treat :noidea::noidea::noidea:....ha ha :snorky:

Picked a load of runner beans and gave some away to neighbours, esp she who drops off the odd lager or two.:snorky: Been a brilliant crop despite poor germination and late cropping....the taste has been exceptional this year and I suspect this is because of the hot weather and night temps not dropping too much

Watering in the nematodes on the lawn now using a sprinkler....they were applied this morning.

The lobelia tupa that arrived a couple of days ago was potted on into 3 litre pots is growing very fast. I should be able to divide it in half by mid September and have 2 large plants for next year. Only cost me a fiver :)

Potted up a few verbena bonariensis seedlings.......I have noticed subtle colour differences in the VB plants over past couple of years so am labelling accordingly.

I used to do late night ice cream, I went for quantity 4lt in one go was no problem, now I stick with quality but down to 1 lt as quality seems to cost more

At some point I would like a greenhouse (I might have mentioned this before :noidea:) so I thought it was about time I made a space for it. I moved the frame from the old plastic greenhouse to around the corner behind the water butt. Although it no longer has a cover it is still usefully for storage. It actually fits there nicely. Moving the frame gave me a chance to paint that end of the shed.

There is already a concrete path leading along the edge of the sheds. I need to clear around it so I know where I need to lay slabs and how many I would need. The pavers don't need to move at this point as they are not in the way. In theory I could use them instead of slabs but I'm not sure how even I could get them.

                G.

It was very wet this morning so did some indoors gardening and finally re-potted the orchids. Even though the Phalenopsis is flowering so it's probably not a great time for her, the Ladies were so congested in their pots that had I left it any longer they would have met me at the front door.

Anyone who thinks orchids are delicate plants should try wrestling a Dendrobium out of a container. [IMG]

I'm a orchid newbie so the success so far with my Ladies is very rewarding :love30: Interesting, surprisingly easy plants with plenty of character :)

Popped into Morrisons for bread and posh olives, emerged with large, potted Siberian Irises, £2 each. :noidea: Just what I need for the new border currently filled with whatever I happened to have around. The evergreen foliage is spot on shapewise so very pleased with that :)

Humid, damp morning....very, very warm. :) Still not had much rain but everything is lush and green........very little rain in the forecast.

Delphiniums on their third flowering this summer, hymenocallis on their second, thalictrums too are flowering again, heleniums have been flowering non stop for weeks now, geraniums cut to the ground are already flowering again....what a summer this has been. :)

Picking runner beans daily now despite growing on a wigwam this year. Looking to divide more perennials but they are nowhere near past their best to do so! Agapanthus though will be divided today

Every year I vow to grow less in pots but I have more now than ever. :noidea: I have a growing queue of folk to benefit from plant giveaway next month.:hapfeet:

Divided and potted the Irises I bought yesterday, hopefully they'll bulk up nicely before they go in the border in autumn.

Pricked out the last cactus seedlings into growing pots and (with a smug smile) took the seeding pots into the Corner of Forgotten Things in case some late germinators will still appear.

I trust I'm not the only one with the ongoing daydream that pots where nothing has germinated will have to be taken into the Corner oFT, or the indoors equivalent and left there for a year.

Then, I picture myself strolling in that area when a splash of colour catches my eye. "Good heavens! What ever might that be!?" I exclaim, and to my utter astonishment, find a fully formed, perfect specimen of a plant which against all odds germinated when neglected for a year.

So far the success rate is 0%
