Rescued this poor plant from a skip. Some inconsiderate philistine had just thrown it away. It was virtually bald and the leaves were hanging down completely limp. Re-potted it and watered well and now its perked up and become a little cutie. However, I don't know what it is. I'm assuming its a houseplant, maybe a sweetheart plant but don't really know. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks

Yes agree with Scrungee @Greybelle It is a low maintenance little houseplant perfect for a shelf or desk. Some say if you place a coin in the soil it will bring you wealth and good fortune! ;) They thrive in bright indirect light and well-drained soil. They like to dry out a little between waterings so be careful not to over water. Once a week during Winter and twice a week during Summer should be fine. If the leaves start drooping, it’s thirsty! They appreciates a liquid fertiliser being applied once every month in the spring and summer to promote growth. Liquid seaweed is a good one for that.. Hope that helps..

Thank you all. I've never had this plant before and not sure I've even seen it before. Silver surfer's Google search link shows what an interesting little plant it is too. Well done, Scrungee for the first identification and thanks for the care tips Marley Farley. Its all really helpful.

Yes wise owl Crassula ovata is another plant which goes by the common name money plant.

Crassula ovata, commonly known as jade plant, lucky plant, money plant or money tree,

                Crassula ovata - Wikipedia

This is the problem with common names and where confusion may occur.

Pilea peperomioides...common name Chinese money tree is a very different plant.

I just love the story behind this plant.
I came across it maybe 9-10 years ago and when ever the plant appears on www I like to pass on wildchickens excellent link.

A Chinese puzzle solved - Pilea peperomioides

I do hope folks here will take the 2 mins needed to read it.

By the way Pilea is actually in the nettle family Urticaceae......not a lot of people know that!

                    While Crassula is in Crassulaceae.

Really fascinating info in the Chinese Puzzle Solved article, Silver surfer. Well worth the read and glad you kept it and could pass it on. I've learned a new term - basal shoots - which is useful as my little gem is now growing them and, from the article, can be used for propagation later on. I would never have guessed it was related to the nettle.
Thanks for the thumbs up, Tetters. It encourages me to post and share.
Nice money tree, Wiseowl. This one I do know and have always liked it. Now I've seen yours, I think I'll get one for myself.
                      Cheers everyone
