I expect the birds have eaten a lot of the Elderberries when we had the hot weather and they were searching for moisture and food.Whenwe have been out walking of late we have noticed that some of the clumps of elderberries have some missing so I thought it was possibly either the birds taking them or they naturally dropped off due to the dry weather.I tasted one of the fruits and it was so bitter so don’t know how the birds can stomache them:yikes:

As an aside my Rowan tree that was full of berries has shed a lot of them due to the hot weather and they are all over our grass verge and in the road so the cars are squashing them as they drive up and down our lane. Usually the starlings come in flocks both adults and juveniles and they strip the berries off of the tree every August but up to yet they have left them alone for some unknown reason although we haven’t finished with August yet so they still have time:snorky:

I had to take my dog to the vet today. We should go more often but it costs a lot of money. Today I got a consultation and 2 lots of medicine for £79. I have to go back next week for a review. The result will possibly be longer term preventative medicine. Our cat (sadly no longer with us) had diabetes. It cost us a small fortune to keep him medicated. Ideally I would like to set up a pet plan but with 2 dogs and 2 cats the cost of that long term would probably out weigh the occasional cost of treatment.

All vets I see these days seem to be from overseas. That in itself isn't a problem as I am grateful for the service they are providing. The problem is understanding what they are saying. I have some trouble. My mother who is 81 and hard of hearing has no chance.

            G.

Risk of scrapping 1p and 2p coins 'unfounded'

Bank of England economists have reignited the debate over the future of 1p and 2p coins, arguing their removal from circulation would not stoke inflation.

In a blog post on Wednesday the analysts said their work and the “overwhelming” evidence suggested the withdrawal of coppers would have “no significant impact on prices”.

Rubbish, The Home Office said the same about knife crime.

@shiney They already took Woos money:smile:
Good morning I have been waiting for a roll of membrane and pegs,to cover my old lawn which is a week overdue, received this email this morning after contacting Leeson's.It was delivered to a pub about two miles away as the Owl flies ,I hope they are not assuming I am going to pick it up for them as once I'm in there:whistle:

              Hello,

We have checked the tracking no 41430070000632 with uk mail and it is showing as being delivered on 22nd August at 12.33 but on further investigation, it is showing as being delivered to Old Watling Street near to/at The Three Crutches - is this road near to your one?

We will ask UK Mail to clarify this and come back to you asap.

              Kind regards, Mike.

That's disgraceful! Oh sorry you weren't in or we couldn't be bothered locating your house but we did manage to find a pub, have a pint and drop off your delivery there. Hope it's not too inconvenient, cheerio!

@wiseowl I would be inclined to tell them that although you realise that UK Mail have mis-delivered it, it is not your problem and that you require delivery within two days or, if they're unable to do so, an immediate refund. It may get them moving a bit.

Delivery people are supposed to be good at finding houses, after all, that's what their job is! I didn't have any problem finding your place :noidea: :) Maybe they couldn't be bothered to go up the steps.

If someone signed for it, supposedly in your name, I would think that they intended purloining it otherwise they would have rejected delivery - unless they were a friend.

I guess you have told them that it's not your signature :blue thumb: and that you wouldn't dream of going to a pub 2 miles away. That's much too far to stagger home!
