I initially thought woodlice were boring into my beefsteak tomatoes, but then discovered they were taking advantage of holes previously started by tomato moth caterpillars.

Now my cherry toms are in severe decline, Shirleys have taken over as my main producing eating tomato.

They also ignore green tomatoes and only seem to attack the plump ripe ones.

        Damn cunning crustaceans.

          Money Maker Tomatoes,
I grew six from seed, the yield is four trusses on each plant with fifty tomatoes per truss
          ie:- 200 toms per plant
Is this a normal yield or is my secret MPC mix working ? :-)

            It's your green fingers Jack.

Some of my plants have performed the best I can ever remember, I am getting over 60 fruit on each truss on Suncherry and this is two trusses of Gardener's Delight a few days ago:

The gardeners delight look spectacular !

I'm growing these next year and will be happy if I get half of that crop.

I'm struggling this year with supports for my chillies and tomatoes as the polytunnel was finished just as the plants where getting to a decent size. Holidays then got in the way and the plants have made do with heath-robinson supports.
Sounds like I have (another) winter job to create some more sturdy supports

We have lift off! Very late to the game after building a greenhouse and planting in late summer but thought I would try my luck. There have been a few tomatoes every couple of days since mid-August (which have often been snapped up by my son). Since the weekend they have really started to ripen though. Just had a salad of about 30 cherry toms of various types and there are far more on the plants. Think I need to make some tomato sauce at the weekend! It will be a good way to use up the basil as well.

Not sure if all of the toms will make it this year as the weather seems to have cooled. Hopefully the greenhouse will protect them. The Mortgage Lifters are all still green though so I think they are a lost cause. Next year I will be prepared and get going earlier!

We have a rogue tomato plant in the "general" garden, i.e, not the greenhouse or veggie patch, it looks like a meaty variety, doubtful it will come to anything (although I have fruit), but I'll let it run its course. Still picking Manx Marvels but they are nearly at their end AND yes, I have saved seed!:)

I share Silu's envy ....I thought my crop was very good but my ego is well and truly dented by JWK's picture!! Amazing crop JWK
If you had to choose JWK, GD or Suncherry?

That is exactly what mine look like, so it is a normal good yield then Ta

Still picking.. this is just half of yesterday's.
Black Opal, they have really surprised me last few weeks as they have come on loads since the drop in temp, gorgeous flavour. Terenzo done well but now slowing down. Not impressed with sweet millions. Love Golden Nugget, even though they split. Tomato berry f1 are rubbish, imo. Thick skin and bland flavour.. Can't think of the other names for now..

I would grow GD. They are quite different - Suncherry is much smaller and very sweet whilst GD has that proper tangy tomato taste.
