This is an excerpt from the documentary Screaming Masterpiece, which is about the different musical scenes in Iceland.
Odins Raven Magic was a collaboration between Sigur Ros and Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson (musician and head Pagan of Iceland) amongst others. It is based on an ancient Icelandic poem.

      Drugs?????????????

      Evening all,
Now i know im about to open a can of worms here but here goes anyway,

I was having a quick look at the tv this morning as i was warming up from sorting logs out and J/ kyle show was on and again someone crying about the life they've made for them selves "But" again the taking of drugs was to blame and smoking weed.

Now ive led a very active life and i like to think im a normal sort of person but ive never taken a drug in my life other than the likes of asprin/tea/coffee and the odd few pints.

Its been years since i was drunk (& sick) and today i heard these people talking about the mother taking this & that and how she needed a lift up to help her cope with the daily life cycle.

My thoughts here are simple very simple, if you need some drug to lift you up from what you see as a low side of life, what happens when you come back down?? Your never going to be happy as a normal person.

Im happy with life, but like so many people ive had bad days,
but thank god i was educated in common life styles & told the difference between good & bad.

Am i alone in enjoying life for what it is?
Perhaps its because i enjoy the simple things in life, Nature, Animals, and the fact i was born with all parts working,

some people have terrible things from the day they we're born to live with.

Whats your thoughts on this one?

Amazing that someone else is familiar and likes this. This piece fills me with such emotion. I remember seeing the South Bank Show on tv where they did an in-depth look at this piece of music, including interviews with Gorecki himself. He said the music was meant as a warning. A warning about being intollerant of others, especially race. At the time, he pointed to the war in Bosnia. The first time I heard this piece of music was on the radio on my way home from work. I had to sit in the drive just so I could hear it through. Naturally, I bought the cd. There are probably a few versions, but the one I have is with David Zinman and London Sinfonietta featuring Dawn Upshaw, absolutely amazing! Obviously, if you don't like classical, then give it a miss. In some ways, it has a very simple format, but the effect is profound, and is, imo, a VERY powerful piece of music. Personally, I think that everyone should be made to listen to, and understand this piece. Give it a go, at least.

      Cheers...Freddy.

We went to Luz Bay to the beach for a light lunch today and heard a couple of memorable songs back to back on the radio ...

            Demose rouse

The weather cold to the touch,
the weather's sight of snow is cold to the eye

So i stayed in the workshop got the old record player going and found an LP. by Demose rouse'os (I know ive spelt that name wrong but its to cold to go out to the work shop to get the LP, but you know who i mean,
he's greek and he had a big beard, "and belly")

Well the first track brought back memouries of summer outdoor markets, the hot dog stands, shorts & T shirts,

But i swear after a few tracks the room warmed up and the sun came out,
            even "Roxanne" my dog, barked.
