    No, you weren't imagining it. There are so many names for chillies and some have more than one name. The chilli normally known as Ghost is a version of the Naga Ghost and sometimes called known as Bhut Jolokia and Ghost Jolokia. The Reaper is another version of the Naga.

    The Naga seems to be the base for most of the very hot chillies. It is supposed to have originated in Nagaland (no that's not a joke). Nagaland is in the foothills of the Himalayas and bordered by Burma, Assam, and close to Bangladesh and Bhutan. The home of the Naga chilli is now in Bangladesh and their favourite chilli. It is based around Sylhet (not far from Nagaland) and the majority of 'Indian' restaurants in England are actually Bangladeshi restaurants originating in Sylhet.

        @Vince In theory, something very similar - unless you've had it close to other chillies. In which case you can get anything from very similar to anything at all. I suggest you try it anyway.

        The ShineyHybrids don't seem compatible with Naga varieties so if you have one of those then it shouldn't affect it at all.

        Generally chillies are quite promiscuous but the Hybrids are a strong strain. :blue thumb:

            Given the right conditions for germinating, they should germinate with a week. We usually start ours off at the beginning of February.

              Last night we made a nice little mega hot sauce which included 12 Carolina Reapers at it's core and embellished with apples among other ingredients, lovely texture and colour with blistering heat.

              All went pretty much to plan except when I was trying to get the last nimth of mash through the strainer (to make up the last complete bottle) that a small spot hit me straight in the eye :mute::mute::mute::mute::mute: do not get this :mute::mute::mute::mute: in your eye...I know folks that love throwing these things down their throats for fun but I can tell you right here right now its mighty :mute::mute::mute::mute: hot in the old eye socket too...hahahaha... Laughing about it now but it was no joke at the time...Conclusion...The sauce still remains to be fully taste tested (as and when it cools) and the realisation that a Carolina Reaper is blistering :mute::mute::mute::mute: hot no matter which orifice it finds its way into your body hahahahaha. Apologies for swearing but believe me it was sincerely merited [​IMG]

                I'm looking to perhaps start a batch off in December and another in January given the length of time they take to mature fully..I'm a bit Northerly so I may need to provide some additional heat at the greenhouse stage, so going with gas I think....Its all organizing and planning at this early stage

                            He's certainly a good looking cat but he's not expensive. He's not ours! :snorky: He just spends most of his time with us. He has his own space at the back of the heated propagator, has another space with own carpeted top shelf in the greenhouse
