I'd have had a word with the manager about it. :blue thumb: They get used to me 'having a word' with the manager. :heehee:

Stuff your gripes with mobile phones and energy suppliers! Mine is with all these soddin' dental adverts on TV. Do these people (eye candy!) really have such inane conversations? Do they think that any of us gives a toss? And, attractive as they are, why are they all such lousy actresses!

If they insist on showing these much longer the telly is gonna get a shoeing!

Good morning when I went to the car this morning ,my car and 7 others had their wing mirrors hanging off ,some mindless morons idea of fun I expect, and as I don't moan very much would you allow me to have another moan in the same post please:heehee:

Yes its that time of the year again "The fireworks have already started and my furry friend Penny is beside herself when they explode,I do wish that all the large stores would not sell them and their advertising displays are so huge:mad:;)

Have you tried walking her when the fireworks are going off close by to where you live @wiseowl. When I lived for a very short (thankfully) period of time in a town near Glasgow, the fireworks were horrendous. I had a Kerry Blue Terrier at the time and she like your Penny was terrified. She spent her time under my bed shaking for hours.
In desperation I took her for a walk along the road when the fireworks were at their worst (made sure her collar was quite tight and lead secure in case she tried to take off in terror}. It worked, she was quite happy walking along and didn't seem to mind all the banging and crashing nearly as much. Whether it was because she was on a walk and had her mind occupied or felt less "trapped" inside I don't know but all I do know is she got a lot of walks during Bonfire bl''dy season and I went through a fair amount of shoe leather but it was worth it. Sorry about the wing mirrors, moronic ghits. So glad/lucky I don't live in a town any longer.

Isn't it, I had another Kerry Blue from the same breed lines before the "gun shy" 1 and she didn't mind fireworks at all, in fact I think she quite enjoyed all the excitement:rolleyespink:. She was as brave as a lion and was definitely an alfa female. She ruled the roost around where we lived in Edinburgh and god help any dog that wasn't subservient to her ladyship:).

Luckily Molly is not bothered by fireworks . The pre bommy night fireworks I can hardly notice in our area . I do think it is time that firework displays should be properly organised and controlled . The sale of fireworks only be allowed for these displays.

@wiseowl - I can highly recommend Maxxicalm - our Smudge is the same, even a car door banging shut would set him off. We tried the Adaptil stuff, and it maybe made a wee difference, but not much - and the price of it is just horrendous. We also tried another one, which was a spray for collars and bedding, but it just stank the house out and made us all feel ill, whilst doing nothing productive. Latterly, we gave Maxxicalm a go, and the difference is remarkable.

It takes a good 2-3 weeks to get into the system, and is best given twice a day rather than in one dose; dogs up to 10kg (Smudge is, and I would guess Penny is too), it is one tablet a day (half in the morning and at night) doubling up to a full tablet on days when there is a stressful event expected - we will be ramping up to one and a half tablets toward the end of this week, and will likely stay at half tablet in the morning and one in the evening for a few weeks.

They are not cheap, but to be fair they are still cheaper than the Adaptil, and they do actually work.

Back when I lived in Scotland, I was helping my boss repair one of his cars - I was underneath swinging on a spanner trying to get an anti-roll bar off, and he had gone to his shed in the back garden (through the house) to get something to help adjust the attitude of the bolts; lying there, swearing under my breath, I heard one hell of a thwack, so slid out from under the car to see a 'Yoof' taking a flying kick at my car mirror, and my bosses other car mirror was on the deck. Not being much over a youth myself (albeit, I was much more gentlemanly..........), I bolted and grabbed the little oik and had him pressed into a hedge before he knew what was coming.

My boss came out to find me holding said oik by the scruff of his lapels, and the oik screaming at me to let him go or he would go and get his dad......... my boss did chuckle at my reply - "Don't you worry about that son, I have got plenty left for him too!"

It later transpired that my bosses daughter knew the oik, so a conversation was had with the dad and my boss, and we were both reimbursed for our damage, and we had the feeling that the dad was going to be somewhat less gentle with his son than I was.
