Noticed leaves being chomped on my buddleia cuttings in the greenhouse, found this caterpillar, had a good look round can't see anymore bit think I'll have to be a bit more vigilant.

I think that could possibly be the caterpillar of the Peacock butterfly - could be wrong, but if it is I`d let it chomp!! The Buddleia is a very easy plant to propagate, and the butterfly is a beautiful one to encourage :dbgrtmb:

Quite happy to do that, that's the reason I want the buddleias in the first place:blue thumb: have six white and six yellow so I'll just put a few to one side and make sure they're caterpillar free.

I saw a couple of caterpillars on my pea plants. Was trying to coax it onto a stick to be moved but the horrible things attacked the stick. Didn't think they could be so aggressive haha!

I remember when my Nan moved into her house years ago and there was an apple tree in the back garden that was absolutely crawling with caterpillars, not a fan of them myself!

I wouldn`t mind betting that if someone poked you with a stick you would retaliate in a similar way :heehee:

Haha well, that's true! But I wouldn't blame them if I was trying to usurp their peas!

Ye gods! something is eating my plant/s. Now you perhaps tend to change sides. Why? what do I mean.
#Gardening, horticulture and all that. So perhaps we start off with pot plant. That's nice says a friend. What is it? It's a plant, can't you see? Yes but what kind of plant? Now we start to investigate. WE have all been there, done that and got the Tee shirt. Not only have we become interested in plants, how to grow and cultivate them but at te same time other aspects of the natural world have gained our interest. So now. This little critter is munching away at my plant. Help, help, pest control and all of that. Perhaps the time has arrived. Do I simply squidge this tiny critter and say no more, or do I seek to learn more.

Many creepy crawlies begin lives as eggs, then pupae then a beast of an insect eating all in front. Some develope amd eventually enter the world as perhaps an exoctic butterfly or moth. By this tme. You or I, Adam the gardener has widened out. We have now become someting of a naturalist. (Hope I got that right. Naturalist/natureist. One with clothes on, the other Oooops.) So do we destroy perhaps a lone surviver or do we get shot of a pest??????????????????????
