    Not entirely wasted.....

I left school at 16 and went directly into IT, my algebra knowledge was essential but my geometry knowledge was redundant..... but NOT today! I somehow remembered (46 years later) how to check the squaring of a rectangle, well chuffed until I found an online site that did it all for you! :rage:

Had the same putting a polytunnel up on the farm, boss said all 6 post holes had to be square to get the hoops in straight.

After watching him bang pegs in for half an hour and utterly failing to get them square, he went off to get a cup of tea.

I thought if I break it into 2 triangles I could get the length of the diagonal and square it all up.

I was just putting the last hoop in when he came back and wanted to know how I'd done it. Told him a bloke called Pythagoras told me how to do it.

He said "Does he live in the village?" :snorky:

Here is the full squaw/ Pythagoras joke..............:snorky:

The Planes Indians practised polygamy, and one chief had three squaws.
The first squaw lived in a teepee of elk hide, the second in a teepee
made of buffalo hide, and the youngest in a teepee of hippopotamus hide.
Then he slept with each wife on the eve of his great hunting trip.
He was gone nine moons and when he returned, he went into the elk hide
teepee and found that his wife had borne him a son. Likewise, in the
buffalo hide teepee, that squaw, too, had borne him a son. So, imagine
his surprise when he found twin baby boys in the hippopotamus hide
                    teepee.

                    This just proves that …

The squaw of the hippopotamus is equal to the sum of the squaws of the other two hides.

If I'm squaring things up I use a 3,4,5 triangle. Any multiple of this gives a right angled triangle

I was also going to mention the 3-4-5 method :blue thumb:. This little video explains it well....

That's fine if you're in the southern hemisphere - it would never work here
