Chilli tonight, rice and a generous amount of grated cheese. Comfort food! Sorely needed, the kids and myself have had the lurgy this week

 

It's not even funny! My hubby has refused to kiss me, hug me, sleep I the same room !!!! I'm in isolation!!!! It's just me and my gurgling tummy!

I thought I'd do something different today. As my wife works all weekend and I don't it's only fair that I treat her every now and then.

Today we had pork steaks with caramalised apples and onions. We also had the usual roasted potatoes and parsnips with boiled mixed veg. I like to cook anything pork in cider. The juices then make a very tasty gravy. I have in the past tried apple juice but it isn't the same.

I also made an apple and plum crumble for after. I'm no good at measuring ingredients so I tend to use up everything I have. I was not 100% happy with the way it came out but we still ate it. My wife liked hers. She said there was nothing wrong with it. I would have liked the fruit to have be softer. I also found the topping to be a bit dry and a bit too crumbly. I think the crumble layer may have been a bit thick. It looked alright when I did it. Good, bad or indifferent, we still have another 6/8 portions to eat.

I made my filling with: Apples, Plums, Sultanas, Sherry, Sugar, Nutmeg, Ginger.
I made my topping with Butter, Flour, Oats, Walnuts.

It kept me busy for a while at least.
