It's exasperating. I disagree that councils are powerless to influence legislation - they are quite capable of forming an opinion, making an argument and taking that to the local MP to raise in the commons.
Not saying they ever will but there remains the potential for these morons to accomplish more than they do.

My local council Thanet DC is, it appears run by the officers. The gossip is that they will be in special measures very soon. Vote for this party and we will do A,B & C until they get elected then it's D, E & F :wallbanging:

This is the inevitable outcome of continued austerity - the money just isn't there any more. Did I hear that one Council is to receive a cash injection to stop it collapsing - or was this something I made up .

Got told off today by one of the neighbours - I was told that it's far to cold be outside in the garden and I would get pneumonia :frown:.

Hate those 'accept cookies' popups! Must have accidentally clicked on one whilst half asleep because I suddenly found I couldn't get into a subscription only online newspaper for free any more. Selectively cleared cookies and I'm back in again.

If I get any cookie popups that don't let me in without agreeing I just don't bother with their website. I've not yet found any site that is of sufficient importance for me to 'agree to cookies or you can't use our site'. :noidea: :old: We don't have a two finger smilie :heehee:

It's irritating that any site you visit will stick a cookie on your computer.

The answer to all this for anyone who is unaware, is to click on the little "open menu" icon at the extreme top right-hand corner of your screen (three parallel lines)

Chose "options" halfway down the pop up menu,

Then click on "privacy and security" on the menu on the left-hand side of that page.

Then scroll down to "Cookies and site data."

                      Then click on "Manage data."

A menu will come up with all the cookies stored on your computer.

Many of these are for sites you will be regularly visiting and will be storing passwords. so avoid those.

Any sites you don't need, like Wiki and Bing and on line retailers you've only had a brief look at, you can lose.

Click on "remove selected" for each one you want to lose. Don't click on "remove all" or you'll lose all your cookies. When you've got to the bottom of the list, click on "save changes" then on "OK." you'll be left with just the cookies you need.

I do this every day before I close down my laptop. It only takes a minute, otherwise I'd have a boatload of unwanted cookies on my laptop.

I don't have that but do have a wheel emblem. If I click on that there is an option for 'Safety' and in that is 'Delete Browsing History' (which I haven't, and won't, touch as I guess it will delete everything).

                            Thanks.

Fortunately I don't visit many sites. If I'm not sure about a site I try to use 'In Private'. Don't know whether that stops everything.
