Yeah, it must have been a tall dog that was made for.

I might be old fashioned, but I've never put a dog in a cage:scratch:

Dog was brought home as a puppy in a cage/crate (AKA pet's residence) and loves it as his exclusive space. He'll actually kick up a fuss unless the door is closed overnight, although we leave it open when he's left in the day during summer so he has access to his water bowl + the cool quarry tile kitchen floor.

And they're also useful for transporting Hens (+ Ducks)

My Westie liked his too. If I had to leave him in it during the day he would be happy enough. Had his duvet, water and a couple of biscuits. Funny thing he wouldnt eat the biscuits until you came home. Didnt like crumbs in his bedding ?

We had the very large one to transport our three cats in our van ten sold it to a friend here taking her dogs back to the UK.

I had thought them good for nuturing special plants in to keep animals OUT!

Surprised the wicker cat carrier hasn't gone yet ... turned up on it's end it would make a unique planter.

Whilst I was fostering dogs for a rescue the cages were an absolute necessity. Most of the time they made a 'safe' haven when dogs were frightened - for example, during thunder storms or when fireworks happened. Some dogs rescued from puppy farms had never been outside of a cage, and they were among the saddest creatures, and needed a lot of careful attention to try to 'normalise' them. They had a cage of their own with the door open, and needed encouragement to venture outside of it.
Then there was the dog that would start a punch up with the others, and the cage was a way to separate them and allow a cooling down time.
If I needed to go shopping for an hour I couldn`t leave these dogs without their individual protection either.....
We don`t need the cages any more as my own two rescued mongrels have become easy to deal with and were rescued from a puppy farming background together. I think they are from the same litter.
It was a very rewarding job to work with the rescues, but hard work. I managed to re home 30 altogether. 28 of those were yorkies :happydog:
