      @longk
      No significant frosts, just a few mornings when car window screens would have needed scraping.
      S guaranitica is just starting to flower.
      Some of the salvias have been slow to recover from the cold spell last spring and didn't really get going until the we had some rain and cooler weather (September).

        The same here. 'Black and Blue' never even bloomed this year. Strangely, a couple of the slightly dodgy ones in terms of hardiness ('Amistad' and S.patens) both thrived :dunno:

        The only one in bloom at the moment is S.coerulea in the greenhouse...............

        It is pretty outstanding though :biggrin:

          Although Amistad survived the cold spells in a bed outside it took a long time to produce any shoots and none of these developed during the hot dry summer. It didn't get going until I dug it up at the end of August and stuck it in a pot in the greenhouse, by the end of September it had a developed a few leaves and has now produced the flowers shown in post 82 above.

            It has been mild down here. Impatiens flanaganae has just finished flowering and is still in full leaf, although a little windswept.

                Yes I was looking at it the other evening and there are some beautiful Salvias on there. I particularly liked S ochrantha and S scabrida.

                  Ditto - Salvia ochrantha is the outstanding one though. Honourable mentions for Salvia psilostachya and 'AARD' 2.
