Crikey, we're off on a trip back to the eighties with this thread!
David Sylvian first came to fame as the frontman of Japan...............

Furniture are another band from the early eighties who, like Flock Of Seagulls, should have been huge...............

      And some early U2.................

I must admit, at the time, I was no fan of the 80’s. Since then though, bit by bit, the music has grown on me. Maybe, if I live to be 100, I might grow to love the Spice Girls. Scratch that, ain’t happening :nonofinger: Back on track, a tune, again by Sylvian, that is just...magical...

The era when I went from child to yoof to adult.
What has happened for me is that t'interweb has made it possible to discover so much more music of that era than I could at the time. We all knew Joy Division back then, some of us actually liked them, but nobody here had heard of The Replacements..............

I guess that it might make a legally acceptable measure of senility :heehee:

All of the '80's videos took me back to my teen years. Fantastic time to grow up - some great music came from that era. Currently rediscovering a lot now that I have Tidal.

I hadn't played the tracks before now and hadn't realised that she was singing in Mortal Coil. A really unique voice and not that mainstream in the 80's.

Growing up near Sheffield there was lots going on musically at that time in the city (BEF, H17, Human League, ABC and some more local bands that never really made it big). Last year I went to a concert by The Everly Pregnant Brothers (local sweary uke band who generally do spoof covers) to listen to their rendition of the Dare album. Quality of the recording isn't great but this was their version of Get Carter.

If I remember rightly @Sheal , you quite like a bit of guitar. Been following this band for yonks. The guitar player, Andy Latimer is quite special, I feel. I could have picked any number of tunes to display his talent. Just so melodic...

You're not wrong @Freddy, I quite like a lot of guitar actually. :)

To my ears Camel are a cross between the Shadows and Santana, sort of chill out guitar? I liked it but prefer heavy rock/blues rock. Thank you.

I like jazz guitarist. Especially those who can play a tune with the chords.

This is Kenny Burrell, just double bass accompaniment.

I may have posted this before, the late Barry Galbraith from an album of mine. Few will have heard of him, but there's been over 19,000 hits.
