It seems to me that those twats will never agree on the way ahead. Someone will always object. Time to take it out of their hands...

Not being very political ,we are obviously a divided nation ,just like America.
That is democracy at work ,or not working.

As I said to my American neighbor ,”You have had 2000 years to sort yourself out but we have had considerably longer”

Noteable recent results in elections/ referendums

        Euro 52/48
        Scottish referendum 55/45
        Uk election 2017 45 con 41 lab.

All very close, did the electorate get all the facts before voting. Were promises made kept ?

If we need to rerun the first one because it was so close or the people were "too dumb" to understand what they were doing then why not rerun the second and third ?

Typical Britain, Wee Tam. It's a miracle we ever get anything done. We have some of the greatest brains in this country. Our ability to talk....talk.....talk and to go on talking appears to be our jewel in the crown.

And as was said in the video I posted last night by one of the speakers, if we were 'too dumb' to choose between 'Remain' and 'Leave' how on earth will we be clever enough to choose what to do with a 500+ page 'deal' based on legal jargon. That video is long, and yes it has a Leave bias, but if watched with an open mind there is a hell of a lot of sense in it (and you only see Rees-Mogg and Farage at the end)

It was circa 45% conservative, 41% labour. From memory it was 45.6 v 41.9

I think they're all in only 2 camps, those that are trying and those that are very trying.

Wonder why Brexit is a balls up? Listen to leading Brexiteer and (unbelievably) International Trade Secretary Liam Fox as he stutters his way through this interview with Nick Robinson on yesterdays Today program............

Best of Today - 'Delaying Brexit worse than no deal' - BBC Sounds

As far as he is concerned leaving on March 29th, even with no deal, is imperative as parliament has an agreement with those who voted leave. What complete and utter small balls! There was no mention of March 29th in the referendum - it is merely political expediency from the Rees-Mogg champagne swillers (yep - Rees-Mogg hosted a champagne party for leading Brexiteers after Theresa Mays crushing defeat) in the pursuit of their own agenda! It could be extended without beaking any agreement with the electorate. If the EU believe that the UK parliament could pass it then they will agree to an extension, if they believe that it will not pass they will refuse. They are very clear however (and have been all along) that this is the only interim agreement on the table.
Best bit of the interview comes about 10mins 45secs in when Fox tries to bullpoo Nick Robinson over trade figures and promptly gets shot to pieces with the true facts from Nick Robinson.
Still, it's good to know that he is working hard to 'replace' half of our overseas trade with the dregs of the world markets (whom as it happens we already have deals with anyway as part of the EU)! Just to be clear, I'm not saying that we will lose all of our trade with the EU. But neither am I spouting garbage about 'new deals' like Brexiteers do when what they actually mean is mere continuation of deals that we are already part of.

Career politicians that care only about their jobs and dont care about the country. The UK negotiators must have been the wettest in history. So scared of offending someone somewhere they failed miserably.
Of course maybe they deliberately set out to make a mess of it hoping the British public would give up and accept being ruled by the mighty Belgians , Estonians, Maltese, etc etc.

@longk - the date of 29th March was set when Article 50 was triggered though, not promised at the time of the referendum vote? Extending that date is fair enough (and I say that as someone who voted to leave), if that gives the time to sort out a suitable deal - - but, the EU have said that the deal offered is the only deal, so it is that or nothing. They are trying to hold a gun to our head, having done very little in the way of negotiation in the two years since the vote, and are hoping against hope that they can scare us enough that we stay.

I am watching the BBC as I type, and they are in a distillery near my home town, and banging on about where they buy glass bottles and so on - - do you really think that all those producers across the EU will suddenly stop wanting to trade with the UK? Are we really incapable of either making stuff ourselves or sourcing them from non-EU countries if they did? It has all been negative, negative, negative for the UK for the start, but nothing said about what happens to the folks in the EU if there isn't a deal. They have as much impetus, if not more, to sort a deal than we do, and our leaders should have capitalised on that fact to get a deal - - only, the whole thing has been orchestrated by people who voted to stay, or wanted another referendum. Bluntly, that is a bit like asking me to negotiate on behalf of vegans.

As the EU are saying this is the only deal, and they will only extend the exit date if there is a possibility that the deal will eventually be voted through, THEY are the ones setting the exit date. If we don't want the deal, then the only other option is no deal.

I am utterly convinced that we are going to get dragged back to the polls one way or another on this one, be it another referendum or a general election; what is going to be really interesting is when there is a similar split to before on the outcome of that, or any subsequent vote, because you can bet your shirt that there will be a lot of people calling for re-runs of general elections if they are closely split in the future if they drag us back to vote on this again.

I was chatting to my friend who runs, in essence, an import/export business. I was genuinely interested in what he thought the impact would be on his business due to Brexit... He said 'what Brexit? Nothing's happened so there's no impact at all'
I asked what if there's a no deal, he said <shrug>'We have and extra form or two to fill in. So what? We did it before so I'm sure we can still manage to do it'

And that right there, for me, is what gives me faith that the rest of the UK will cope just fine whatever the outcome. The arrangements whatever happens will change and so shall British business
