    The promised heavy snow turned out to be just a light snow shower. It has settled on the lawn but not on the patio or road. 29F at the moment.

        I know @Loki it's very disappointing isn't it....and we haven't any kids at home!! :sad::sad:

        Our sleety rain didn't show up at all either. With all the modern technology they have ( can even see weather patterns in outer space!!) I'm sure they are more than capable of tracking the current potential snow fall more accurately.

        Once again we are said to have heavy snowfall tomorrow....my snowman making equipment is at the ready!!

        Today we are in for sunny intervals with a high of 4 and a low of -5.

        keep snug everyone!:)

          It was a white-knuckle night with heavy rain and 80kmph gusts, but luckily, from the west. Everything is planned with westerlies in mind! Calm as the proverbial millpond today, so just the 15mm of rain to look forward to. Deep joy. Max 9C

            Currently 13c going to 16c possible showers through Friday. It's overcast now.

            Take care all of you with the sleet, snow and ice. I sure don't miss it.

                Some snow overnight which gave the garden a light dusting, followed by a mixture of sunshine and cloud, 3C/37F.

                We don't really know what cold is here. My son lives in Ohio where the temperature today held a wind chill of -35C/-31F. The employees at the firm he works for were given a warning that more than ten minutes outside would give them frostbite!

                    We are at -1f .. -21c and I feel for those people in Ohio since they are much colder. The rail lines down there are spraying the rails with lighter fluid and setting them on fire in hopes the joints and switching gear don't get cracked with the extremes.

                    @Sheal you obviously are well aware of the differences in your son's growing zone compared to most of the UK and understand our Zone envy! :)

                        @WeeTam the problem with a wee thaw is that the snow banks are so high and heavy that they block the drainage grates on the side streets such as where I live. Then water lands up backing up and still, all over the road.. then it freezes...

                        I can shovel the snow with the best of them. And being an optimist, hope that all this shivering will use up the calories from the licorice allsorts I've been consuming:heehee:

                          Lori it wouldn't occur to me and others here in Britain the effect the extreme cold has on other things like the rail lines, probably because it's not a problem that has arisen here. It's difficult to imagine how those low temperatures feel and how you cope with them day in, day out. You must be made of tough stuff! :)

                          You may remember my younger daughter lives in British Columbia, an hour's drive east of Vancouver. She says they've had a mild winter and it feels very spring like at the moment. Daffodils are in bloom too.

                            @Sheal your daughter is situated on the coast of the Pacific and the mountains (Rockies) stifle the movement of tne warm air from travelling beyond their metropolis. Kinda like California but a little Cooler. Very much like UK growing... until you go north. That's why the skiing is superior up there.

                            We have now slipped to - 6 Fahrenheit. ..
