I use Paypal on line where it's offered. Like always on eBay.

I always use Paypal , well it's virtually compulsory for Ebay. And it's so easy shopping on line with it , you don't need to put your card number in so it's more secure and a lot less faff . As Shiney states if the purchase is over £100 maybe better not to use Paypal. I am waiting for a Paypal repayment from Ticketmaster , hopefully by the end of the week ... fingers crossed :fingers crossed:

But the one advantage of a debit card is that if the money isn't in the account, no money can go out.

Yes it can, you will then become overdrawn. I guess it depends on your bank and if you have an agreed overdraft limit, if you don't have a limit and go overdrawn then the costs could be very high.

I'd rather not say in public, if that's ok.

I check my accounts on line but dont do much else on line regarding my bank.
I always find the credit card account particully confusing regarding how much it is stating I owe.

Often I buy stuff and sometimes return stuff for a refund, finding the correct amount you owe, without just trusting their adding and subtracting is pretty difficult I find, especially when they take the whole amount each month from my bank account as payment on a certain date.

Other than that I use pay pal but that comes off my credit card anyway. pay pal dont get to know my bank details, only my credit card No.

I've been know to use a debit card online but only with the stingy local council, who charge extra if you use a credit card.

I do virtually all my banking (and checking) on my mobile. I can do it anywhere this way, I frequently do stuff on the train to and from work.

I have never yet had an unusual payment made. Hope it stays that way!

I bank with Nationwide. Very seldom are there any problems. Like Shiney, I had a deduction by Amazon for Prime, contacted Amazon and the amount was duly refunded. However about a year ago, I noticed a ten pound deduction. Asking Nationwide about it. Oh yes. That's a London Congestion Charge. Nationwide did all they could but tfl wouldn't budge. I went into top gear, explaining I had for some years been a traffic cop in London, and motoring then was a nightmare. Now I wouldn't dream of driving there. Still no joy. I then related that I do have a car. I don't pay vehicle exercise duty as I am registered disabled. Finally I got my ten pound back.

Recently I and a friend had a meal at the local Harvester. The waitress simply touched th machine with my card. I did my nut.

I changed my debit card so it is no longer "contactless" My credit card provider wouldn't.
But I have one of those screened wallets, so it reduces the danger.
All this "contactless" nonsense is all about saving a few seconds. I always wonder what people do with the seconds they saved.
