    .... still moaning
They've gone paperless, which in theory is a good thing.
However this area isn't exactly affluent.
They have stated that no paperwork will be sent out, everyone has to sign up to their designated platform.
That means all payments go through said platform!
    Lunch money, school trips etc.
This might not seem like a problem to some, but... for a lot of people in this area it means a trip to the ' not so local library ' if you need internet and it means having money in your bank account :frown:
Sometimes families can scrabble together a few pounds to give their kids, having money in the bank is hard!
I know I'm ranting but this area has one of the highest levels of food bank intake ( a lot are in employment) it just really irks me that ' the powers that be' can be so in denial.

I agree with you that they shouldn't make everything electronic. Although I use the internet a lot, mainly emails, to communicate I abhor being told I must do things electronically. so I'm an Intentional Luddite. It's my choice whether I want to or not.

The amount of organisations that tell me that they will text me info is increasing but I point out that it would be difficult for them to do so as I don't have a mobile phone and my landline can't accept spoken texts. :heehee:

I know that some organisations have me listed as a pain in the proverbial, but I love being the President of the Grumpy Old Men's Club.

The other day I was asked to give feedback, on line, on my recent interaction with my power company. After telling them, politely, exactly what I thought and that I could improve their system of dealing with customers, I got a very nice phone call asking for my help - and, after a few suggestions, the offer of £50 off my bill. :blue thumb:

I quite regularly gets goods or vouchers for giving companies my 'opinions'. This includes the problems of only having electronic communications programmed into their systems. Usually my suggestions (sounds better than complaints :)) are sent directly to the managing directors of companies and not to their customer services departments.

I even had a 'discussion' with the taxman saying that I was unable to comply with his request until he was able to change the wording so that it actually made sense. I also, some years ago, got an apology from the government minister responsible for the DHSS for a badly worded demand from the local chief officer for pensions that I said was incorrect and insulting.

      Grumpy Old Men rule! :old:

I got sick of the tax man asking me to complete up to three "self-certs" a year. I finally wrote back returning the uncompleted form and asked why weren't they chasing people who were evading paying tax, rather thaan hounding people like me whose income is all taxed at source?

That was a few years ago, I've not been asked to complete one since.

Some years ago I got the taxman to put in writing that neither Mrs Shiney nor myself need to complete any tax returns. They did so, quite quickly, but quite rightly added the proviso that if our circumstances change we may need to start them again.

Reporting a water leek, reported leek yesturday at 2.00pm coming from fire/water hydrant, water company now has to inform fire and rescue dew to, may be low pressure, today water company out to look at leek at 10am, 12.30pm fire and rescuse then comes to look at leek, now we have to wait for repair which will be a full road close (single track road)

          How times has changed

All water companies have leaks, they are too mean to fix. They keep adding new builds to an overworked system without uprating the pumps that supply it. Our pressure has dropped quite a bit in the last ten years.

Because of the un-repaired leaks, they drop the pressure overnight as otherwise it will make the unfixed leaks worse. Try using an electric shower between 1.00am and 5.00am. in Trafford. We can't, the pressure isn't high enough.

Pipe diameters for supply and sewage have all reduced so I'm just expecting it all to get worse. and the utilities, much the same as the highways, don't have a decent asset management plan in place.

I am having so many problems with Plusnet since I took out the new contract. Didn't have any problems at all for the 18 months of the last contract. But they seemed to have changed some systems, especially the one for processing DDs and it's all gone to hell in a handbag.

I would change ISP but they are all as bad as each other.

Woo, you need to get with it, the good old denim jeans seem to have gone by the board.
Today, for some reason, they are all stretch denim.

Maybe something to do with the size of people these days.

I started out always buying Levi's but moved onto Lee some years ago.
Cant find the ones I normally use for work anymore, most are very expensive and not very hard wearing.

                      Hmm..

Jeans, I haven't worn jeans since I turned forty. I don't possess a pair of trainers. The closest to them were my last couple of pairs of squash shoes, which ended up as "gardening apparel," as did a couple of sponsor's track suits with their logo on the back, when I gave up playing for a club team.
I do have several pairs of casual shoes and at least half a dozen pairs of chinos.

I'd have thought the sight of Jeremy Clarkson in a pair of 501s would haave put men of a similar age off jeans for life. His backside in jeans always reminded me of that of the rear end of an elephant.

Porsche have announced that Brexit could put up the cost of their cars in this country by 10%.
The BBC (demonstrating their blatant anti- Brexit stance), actually worked out what the increase would mean to a potential purchaser and put it on the "red button" news today.

Only people like BBC employees could afford a £100,000, for an "entry level Porsche."

Why should the rest of us care?

Should we feel sorry for those who might consider buying one...or sorry for Porsche?

Those that should care, are Porsche, they may have to reduce the price if they want to sell them here.
