Just started watching Cleaning Up on ITV. Viewed first 2 of 5 and finding it quite exciting and credible too. Maybe more a girly thing...

@Jenny namaste Ooh that’s reminded me to watch it on catch up. Saw a couple of episodes and then forgot it was on....as I so often do. Enjoyed it though.

Disappointed with the first episode of the new series of Endeavour.

How was it that an experienced pathologist couldn't tell that the young girl had been hit by a car?

Were was Endeavour's George Cross ribbon on his tunic?
His superiors would have made him wear it.

I loved the start of the new series! If the pathologist had told them straight away the story wouldn't have worked and not wearing a bauble could be a character trait. In any event it's a story that I felt well told and thoroughly engrossing as it sets up a great plotline :)

My "must watch" at the moment is The Defiant Ones on BBC4. It's about the respective rise of the record producer Jimmy Iovine and the hip-hop artist Dr Dre, and their subsequent friendship and business partnership.
Very sweary in places it is compulsive viewing.

I don't like it when they try to be too clever. In the series with John Thaw, Strange in his then lofty position had never met Endeavour in their youth, never mind been "best mates."

Poetic licence to make the series work though. I like it but you can't enjoy it if you're expecting it to tally 100% with the Morse series from decades ago :dunno:. I simply enjoy the programme and acting and let the small things pass me by

Most police proceedurals are utter tosh if we were to take them literally. If it's realism that you want stick to the French series Spiral - one of the all time greats which is in a similar vein to the great NYPD Blue.

Nothing "poetic" about the "literary licence," it's just convenience. I can "suspend belief" with the best of 'em, until they start taking liberties. In previous series, the pathologist gave Endeavour a lot more clues than he did this time. So his missing the impact of the car on the child's lower body which inevitably would have been there, is just lazy writing.

I actually think it's not as good as previous series. Putting Endeavour in uniform for an episode, for me seemed a bit daft.

Bergerac is returning from the beginning...(again), I think on "Drama."

Celia Imrie was in a series, as Bergerac's girlfriend when she was really "hot." A few consecutive scenes in one episode in which she appeared, was on YouTube for a few years with thousands of hits. But the BBC took it down a couple of years ago.

I'm just getting through the Sharpe series again and his mrs (Abigail Cruttenden) does wonderful things to her wardrobe!

Among others, before and since, he married Abigail Cruttenden his co-star, but they divorced three years later.
