    Aloha everyone,

Yesterday was a good day. We got quite a bit done in the garden, went to the aforementioned :heehee: pub for lunch, met a very nice couple there and spent half an hour nattering to them and they shall be coming to our open garden although they live 20 miles away. Mrs Shiney has already had a few emails backwards and forwards with the woman. Mrs Shiney stops to talk to everyone :rolleyespink: , even in countries where we don't speak the language much, and have some funny stories about that :).

In the afternoon I finished negotiating the renewal of the insurance for our house, contents and both cars. Got a good deal. :hapydancsmil:

Keep well and have a great day

    Aloha!

Morning peeps! How is everyone today?

So want to go down town to see the Bellissima but it will be manic!! Craig David is there doing a stint , and Holly Willoughby, Sophia Loren....stars are in town!!

Inside the largest cruise ship ever to be christened in the UK as it arrives in Southampton | Daily Mail Online

They showed the Crystal staircase last night on the news....amazing!!

To be honest I couldn't go on a cruise ,wouldn't cope with the feeling of confinement....the IOW and France are about all I can happily managed!

Right, must go and hang out the laundry...the sun is shining!

                Have a relaxing day :)

Hubs use to have that a couple of years back. He complained about the bird poop though it was awful!! It always seemed to be the same bird, a Blue Tit and seemed to coincide with the mating season. We thought it either though it was wooing an potential partner or was checking out it's appearance before hitting the skies!!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

That's an MSC ship. It's the biggest privately owned shipping line in the world! Some years ago we had a good conversation with the owner and his wife when they were launching a new ship from Southampton. We'd been invited for their 'shake-down' cruise where the travel industry and press were invited. Mrs Shiney and I were invited as I used to write for a cruise forum.

The interior design was very good but not to our taste - a bit over the top. The Tiger bar and lounge hurt my eyes! :rolleyespink:

                      P1030540.JPG

Their prices were good (for cruise ships) but the atmosphere was not to our liking - nothing wrong with it but too busy.

If anyone is interested in cruising then I may be able to give some advice.

Hi Shiney, I will ask my friend at work to see if she’s ever been on a cruise with them, I can’t get over how big they are :)

One my 'parents ' ( I work in childcare ) use to work for a big cruise liner organisation.
Whenever the liners were being prepared for a new cruise they issued limited amount of tickets to people to spend the day on board to look around and have a 4 course meal.
We often had tickets ;).....I remember on one liner we looked around one of the best suites, it was on two levels and from the upper bedroom area it was completely windowed so you could lay in bed with panoramic views of the sea. There was even a grand piano to play too!!
How the other half live....saw other cabins though that were windowless and very cramped and claustrophobic!!

It was lovely for a day, but no longer for me!!

The right ship to the right place is well worth it. The trouble is, it can be expensive. :noidea:

I've done a lot of travelling on cruise liners and overland (used to write tour guides as well) but also used to work on passenger ships from 1962 - 1964. Things were very different in those days.
