This isn't going to look like a lot for a day's work, but I am absolutely knackered (and I haven't had the heaviest end of the job by a long chalk!) - so far, we have brought in the delivery of the breeze blocks, cleared the ground, laid out the floor to make sure that we have sufficient space all around each side for the base of my ladders to fit, measured out the area to cut for the hatch, checked the run of the drains (man, they are DEEP!) which are thankfully clear, cut the hatch, fitted the handles to the hatch, lifted the floor back up to grout the patio, laid the breeze blocks strategically to support as much of the bearers as possible, then assembled the floor (six sections into two big sections which then have to be flipped the right way up), and have put them all in place onto the breeze blocks:'

      Leveled and grouted patio:

If you look, very carefully toward the left middle, you can just see the flush handles on the hatch lid. We added in additional 1½" x 1½" battens for the hatch lid to sit down on, and to tie in where we had to cut through bearers. On the upside, it appears that the attention to detail when it came to leveling that area of the patio has paid off as it is nice and level on those breeze blocks without any packers, and it is as solid as rock (you can literally dance on it, and it doesn't move).

It is all now covered with tarpaulin, well weighted down as there is showers forecast overnight and then heavy winds tomorrow which may call off play for us - we will see.

Food, beer and pain killers now needed.

I think you've achieved a lot and I'm not surprised you're cream crackered!

It's looking good so far FC, :dbgrtmb: it's a shame the weather may stop play tomorrow.

Shortly after posting last night, I ended up feeling really ill quite suddenly - after an enforced long distance phone call to Huey and Ralf down the white porcelain telephone, I went to bed. Thumping headache this morning, and it is quite literally blowing a gale - NOT a day for handling big, flat shed panels! So, play is off.

@Fat Controller I''m sorry to hear you aren't feeling well.

Once thing about projects getting stalled and needing to be finished, they don't get up and run away. It'll be waiting for you :)

Sounds like you have become dehydrated, so plenty of fluids needed down at your local hostelry !

Better get yourself fit and sorted as may need you and your gang to pop up the M1 and give me some help with my little garden building problem

I hope you're feeling better now FC? Enforced time out is not such a bad thing even though it's frustrating, it also gives you time out to watch the snooker. ;) :)

I'm a lot better now, thanks @Sheal - to be fair, even if I was as fit as a fiddle, today was not the day due to the winds. A lot of trees down and a lot of damage across this part of the world, so swinging on shed panels would have been a really bad idea.

It's the Players Championship that is on at the moment, isn't it? I tend to dip out until the World Championship (only six weeks to go!)

I'm glad you're feeling better. :) I hadn't realised the wind was so strong down south as I haven't heard a thing about it until now. I hope all is well despite the damage.

I couldn't tell you which of the tournaments is on, but know you like to watch it. Pete was watching it earlier on his computer.

                              Hopefully later this week :)

The shed is up, roof is on, felt is on, doors and windows are installed - and even after the horizontal downpours of today, it is bone dry inside.

                              Still to do:
Affix fascia boards and finial (front and back)
Fit weatherstrips to joints and doors
                              Fit weatherstrips to doors
Fit rebates to doors and windows
Fit opener arms, handles and locks to windows (why they have locks is beyond me as you could punch through the plastic glazing in seconds)
                              Fit corner strips
                              Trim felt under soffits

Oh, and Mrs C likes the look of it so much, she wants either hanging baskets on it (I am not keen) or those lights that shine up and down in the same fitting, to run of a solar rechargeable system - - could be a wee electronics project for me if I can source the right lights cheap.

Are you sure you haven't built another house? The company that produced it seem to have thought of everything. I haven't seen the lights you mention?

Our previous neighbours bought a large shed because their garage was overflowing....and put a hot tub in there instead.
