@Sheal if you don’t like the Hydrangers then don’t have one. A mix of different Clems flowering at different times would be nice though I agree :thumbsup:

@Sheal been thinking have you also thought of Winter Jasmin.? It is surprising how tough it is..Jasminum nudiflorum Is winter-flowering jasmine from China can be cajoled into flowering in November on warm, sunny walls, But it is also an excellent candidate for an exposed arch, a cold bank, or a chilly corner or wall, where it will flower later. Shape it straight after flowering and it will form a dense network of neat branches. The yellow flowers appear on bare green stems and provide an early cut-flower

Purple sproating broccoli finally sproating - it's my first attempt with it, and so far I'm not convinced the returns are worth the space it's taken...

Diosma "Pink Fountain". Probably the best £5 I've ever spent; from January to April it's covered in tiny pinkish flowers, with soft feathery foliage the rest of the year. Not bad for a B&Q cast-off.

Thanks @Marley Farley, winter Jasmine is something that hadn't occurred to me. I had one decades ago in a previous garden but not since. The trellis won't be up for another week or so - so time to have a think on the choices I have. :)

Gosh @NigelJ - love the corydalis!
@2nd_bassoon - your diosma is incredibly early - mine only flowers much later in May, and not for so long (though it does look wonderful). I think you must have a very good clone.

Not so much looking good and definitely not an impressive plant but the brunnera woke up, along with ligularia (some in places that Id forgotten I'd planted). I love this time of year when everything starts coming back to life

I was thinking of planting some lily of the valley. I'm not sure whether to put it in the big pot or grow it in the ground. I understand that lily of the valley is invasive therefore growing it in the pot would contain it somewhat.

                          20190316_131705.jpg

I originally thought of lily of the valley in the pot and a brunerra on the ground. I have yet to see any brunerra in the shops. I guess it's too early yet.

I personally wouldn't plant Lily of the valley in the ground @Jack Sparrow it runs amuck . Brunnera are excellent plants, mine is just starting to show so possible to early yet, jack frost is a good variety Alexender the great is a giant version , they are other variety but they don't catch my eye as much. What you growing on the fence ?

Woo, exactly as Perki said...those red stems & leaves differ from Alba :)

Lily of the Valley struggles in pots....it often struggles in the ground too and then suddenly romps; again ditto Perki. Here I have totally removed it as it became a thug:sad:

Brunnera Hadspen Cream is one I recommend for delightful spring foliage and blue forget me not flowers but, again, not something I would put in a pot Gary:) Silver Heart is another attractive variety:) check out Paddocks Plants ....excellent quality and pretty cheap:)
No, not too early....they are hardy, tough and available online. Perfect time to plant them
