Morning, just leaving for an early hospital app. Hope to get a few hours in my Dad's garden afterwards.
        Have a lovely day :)

                  Good morning everyone:)

Very windy here too but no sign of the heavy rain ...in fact the sun is desperately trying to shine!

Had planned to wash all the flower pots that I nabbed from my Dad's yesterday..but think I would spend the majority of my time chasing after them in this wind!!!

So agree with you @Marley Farley !!! Years back hubs took the day off work as it was our 25th anniversary and we thought we would go out for a nice lunch, the kids were out at college during the day so the time was ours!
B@Q were doing a delivery and had ' promised ' an early one as their store is 2 minutes drive away. Well..after countless phone calls to track our delivery they finally turned up at 5:50 pm ...apparently because we lived so near ours was his final one before heading back to the store!!!
By this time our 3 hungry kids were home!!!:wallbanging:

Good afternoon everyone, it’s a windy wild day here too, and got to work to find out where gonna be short staffed :thud:!

Upsydaisy it’s so annoying when they turn up late, they should at least send you a email or text to let you know.

Marley hope your repair man turns up soon so irritating isn’t it.

I think I've mentioned before that I don't stand for undefined times for workmen or deliveries.

Workmen get a two hour slot but I usually ask for the first slot of the day and get it. With workmen/repairs I only employ local people and ones that need to keep their reputation. I find recommendations from the local web forums and if they haven't done a good job then people say so on the forum. I've recently had a plumber, electrician, new boiler installation and, currently, a decorator from that site. All of them were good as they know that they would get a bad report if they weren't.

Other organisations like the electricity company also get a two hour slot to come and read the meter. They tried to tell me that they could only give me a day and not a set time. I replied that if my doctor, dentist, chiropodist can give me an exact time then a meter reader can. They tried to ignore me with it until they found that I wasn't there on the three occasions that they gave me days they would turn up - after I had given them a time limit. They tried to argue that by law I had to let them read the meter and I replied that I had given them three opportunities to do so but they had not taken me up on it. They turned up on time after that! :heehee:

Well this was my fault really @shiney as I booked it on line as I was in a bit of a hurry.. In future I will phone as I normally get some idea of time that way. .

I have been with this company for years and they really are very good.. It was me trying the online booking in a bit of a rush thinking I could get a time slot, but turned out it was greyed out and I couldn’t. As it was I had just finished my work and was just thinking “hurry up” and there was a knock at the door..!

My thinking is much like Shiney’s........I point out my time is as important as anyone else’s and I need a reliable and convenient time slot if my business is valuable to them. Usually works:) A text the evening before and often an update the next day can pinpoint time to inside an hour:)
More and more nowadays, we can track deliveries too again saving waiting times :)

Yes, I also prefer to book by phone and don't do online booking. I'm a bit of a dinosaur that way, if I can't talk to a person I don't use them. Emails are fine for sorting out details but arranging appointments etc. I always do by phone. I like to hear the tones in their voice to see how good they are at customer service. This must go back to when I trained my staff in how to talk to customers :noidea:.
