It is a properly sturdy thing, for sure, and is definitely telling me we have done the right thing. These are the style of lights @Sheal - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lights-Out...&keywords=outdoor+up+and+down+light+led&psc=1

I wouldn't want mains electricity out there permanently though (I will use an extension as and when needed, but do not want a permanent connection), so any lights would have to be solar powered, and that is a challenge...........

As always, you get what you pay for. It's just a shame that we learn the hard way sometimes.

I like the lights but is it possible to change the white to something more subtle? I think coloured light would look good. Your choice of course. :)

Yes, with the right fittings and LED's. any colour is possible (blue is popular on houses) - but, that is a while away, firstly as it is money we don't have and secondly there is the question of powering them

My shed is powered with overhead cable, which has an heavy duty switch in the kitchen and I only turn this on when I want power in the shed. Had no problem in over 30 years.

That is a possibility, but I could not have it permanently connected - I have to be very careful as I rent, and anything like this has got to fit in with the various regs that my landlords have to abide by. I will use an extension cable in a similar fashion when I want power for tools etc, but couldn't leave it connected, and wouldn't want to have to go out to our outhouse (which is the closest and most logical place to plug in) just to put the shed lights on. If I could have a solar panel, charging a half decent battery, lights converted to DC and a photocell to sense the light, then it would be ideal.

In all honesty, I would prefer nothing - Mrs C is the one wanting adornments

I use solar panels to power batteries then I run LED lights and DC fans from the batteries using a DC timer. As long as the sun shines during the day, I get light at night. I only run the lights from dusk to about 10 pm. It was not hard to set up and the heaviest item was the batteries. :)

Well, it is all but done and has been pressed into service as of yesterday. I will do a more detailed write up/review a bit later (should I do this on a thread of its own, or a new thread?) but for now here we are:

                    23.jpeg

By Friday night, it was mostly finished and ready to be filled - interior:

                    20190322_134151.jpg
Following on from @Jiffy's suggestion, I did actually see 'Mental Mickey' scurrying across the patio on Friday morning, having ran out from under the shed. I say mental, as he would have to be as our dog loves to chase wee furries....

There was a slight gap in places where the two sides of the floor didn't quite meet, so I spent a while on Friday morning shaving thin slivers of wood to put into the gap, but it didn't really work and looked bloomin' awful, so I went off to the DIY store to get some wood filler. The gaps weren't large, but a mouse could have wriggled through in some places, so I wanted to deter them. On my way to the DIY store, I had a flash of inspiration, and wondered if a carpet to carpet type coverstrip would do the job, hence the metal band right up the middle of the shed floor - - sorted!

                    20190322_134229.jpg

Note the fluorescent light in the corner - that was donated by my neighbour; an old one that he no longer needed he said.... bloomin' thing is brand new, still had the instructions inside it and the bulbs are still in their sleeves! Needed starters and cable which arrived yesterday, and that is today's job to wire it up - that being the final job to do.

                    27.jpeg

                    25.jpeg

And finally, I can have some organisation.........

Very nice but I think it should be recategorized as an outbuilding not a shed. It's huge!!

Good work and space to be organized. Lovely :)

@Jiffy good thing I wasn't over there when you said tnat! I've got my own set of tools and would have been constructing not serving tea and petit fours :paladin:
