Hi @Freddy If you're talking about the white flowered plant then it's a variegated Cistus and I think it's 'Gold Prize'. They can get quite big so you may want to take cuttings for elsewhere in the garden just in case it doesn't like pruning back. They're usually OK for pruning but can be temperamental.

That should keep flowering for quite some time. New flowers every day.

I've just pulled this up for info about cuttings and pruning.

Cistus x hybridus 'Gold Prize' (v) | rock rose 'Gold Prize'/RHS Gardening

Ah wish I could come and help you out Shiney. If I wasn't up in Lincoln during the week then I'd have come over to help you. Have you had any update on the roadworks which might have affected the parking situation?

I am getting really excited about the get together. When I attended last year, I was extremely impressed. I had had only about 14 hours of sleep in the last several days prior to the open (red eye flight, then 6 hours to get out of Gatwick, 2 nights of loud noise at my accomodations, and then .., well you get my situation)and I didn't have my wits about me however everyone was gracious and treated me like family instead of a lucklaster lump of foreign flesh.

Oh how I wish I could be there again this year!

I can hardly wait to see the pictures and hear the stories. As many who can make it, please do!

You won't regret a moment or feel the trip a burden. I came over 3,000 miles and would leap at it again if I could.

Please everyone, take pictures and share so I can visit vicariously :)

              That's a very kind offer :wub2:.

The roadworks (replacing the gas main) are still there but moving along slowly. With a bit of luck the traffic lights and works will have moved far enough away not to really interfere greatly. I expect there to be available parking on the road/footpath from our place and going East, and on the grass verge opposite. I'm not sure whether the works would have moved far enough to be able to park West of us. They've also been held up by not being able to connect up the house two doors away, so there's still a big hole and works in the road outside. It has been empty for two years as the tenant died suddenly (ex-MP and was, at the time, a District Councillor). He had been renting the place for 15 years. I've contacted the owner and he should be coming down today to open up for them (lives somewhere over your way). I was out there at 6 a.m. and did two hours of tidying and weeding the front of his place - and filled his wheelie bin. :pathd:

Now that's an offer you can't refuse! :dbgrtmb: :heehee:

We still haven't quite finished (actually, not started) the non-gardening tidying up. It's mainly the car port and pergola area that needs a couple of days of tidying (it's where everyone comes in) but it's the plant working area. Every time I start to clear things Mrs Shiney then discovers that what I'm clearing contains more plants that need splitting or potting . I think we'll finally get a good start on it today :fingers crossed:

The current count of GC members expected to turn up is around twenty. :dbgrtmb: That includes those who won't know for sure until the last minute.

Hoping to get along, I've got a few plants I intend bringing along if there is any interest.
I've done this in the past and Mr & Mrs shiney have ended up with what is left over, not sure that is a good thing or not,;).
So I thought I'd come up with a list of what I have available, and anyone interested can reserve anything they fancy, a few pence in the pot is all you need to do.

Here we go, Geranium maderense, not hardy, one year old plants that will flower next year given a good home this summer.
Cyperus alternifolius, this year from seed, grows reasonably fast and does well in a pond once established.
Epiphyllum cuttings from last year, not flowering, pink or white.
Maurandya good hanging basket plant, forms a swollen tuber like root.
Lakemont grape cuttings, rooted last year.
Aloe striatula cuttings, not rooted but root easily and mostly hardy in a sunny spot.
Acacia pravissima 2 yr old plants.
cacti cuttings, rooted last year, some in flower.

EDIT. sorry to cause confusion but I wont be able to make it.

What a generous offer and I thank you for it! Unfortunately the flights would cost me more than what I can afford at the moment. The round flight of 7,000 miles would only be the start of getting there. But I must admit that I loved riding the trains over there :)

Well, if you are taking orders.........

@pete - do grapes need to be in a greenhouse to get the best out of them, with their feet in the soil?

Looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday!

@CanadianLori - I sadly do not have bedroom space free to put you up as @Snorky85 can, but I would be delighted to help where I can, especially transport/travel planning, the next time you come.

I'm growing it outdoors, its seedless, but will take a few years to establish.
