Well I could but the timing difficult to work out.
I'm guessing but I think it's probably one of the two seat ones going from biggin hill, doing trips for people who have a few grand to spare.
They go from Headcorn as well at times.

 

I go through my telly mag on Saturday morning, picking out programes to record...that I'll watch...might watch.. save for later...or possibly in a few days..go straight to delete.

A complicated process, using three remotes to switch from my Humax recorder to the Virgin Tivo box. Necessary, as many of the watchable programmes are all on at 9.00 pm. I can understand the rivalry between commercial stations, but why are BBC1/2/4 the same?
It's because those who run the individual BBC channels see the other BBC channels as competitors. The thought of putting some on at 8.00 p.m and others at 9.00 p.m. for the benefit of the viewer...wouldn't occur to them.

Why do so many documetary programmes have "in your face, presenter over-kill?"

I prefer documentaries with a voice over. I don't need some numpty telling me what I'm going to see and later tell me what they've shown me and get in the way while I'm trying to see what's going on behind their head.

So anything with people like Tony Robinson front, is out. Lucy Worsley "is hanging on by a thread," she's in so many. I thought we'd finally got rid of Kate Humble and Neil Oliver, but they keep coming back. The latter used to have a slight Scottish accent, when he was a "bit part player" in some documentaries over a decade ago. Now I'd need the subtitles to understand him, if I were bothered to watch anything in which he appears.
The BBC like strong regional accents. "BBC English," that everyone could understand, is seemingly, being phased out.

 

Talking of accents
I noticed the other day that that Laura kunsburg on the BBC news had suddenly lost her Scottish accent.
I mean,,I could understand what she was saying ,not that I' m that interested in her personal opinion all the time.

 

Ive noticed the BBC in the last few years is trying to make an effort.
Like moving up to Salford etc.
I think the accent thing is all part of it.
I think they are getting people to talk with various accents, even if they don't have it anymore.

ITV are doing something similar.
We regularly get an announcer with a very strong Belfast accent.
Half the time I can't work out what he's saying.
Before the call centres all moved out to India,,(Your speaking to gerald,how can I help?), they were at Newcastle, not a hope of working out what they were saying.

I'm sure if we didn't have YouTube I'd brick our telly because so many modern programs are insulting to anyone who isn't brain dead.

Bron and I watch lots of YouTube old movies; TV series and music videos; we aren't prudes but once the swearing starts we give up watching and we are bewildered by many adverts where we can't make out what is being sold? Keep us happy YouTube and we'll keep our telly.

I was born in "Sarf London." Well...North Surrey as it was then. but I haven't that sort of accent,
because I went to a local grammar school. "Where we was taught to speak proper."

Part of our English tuition, was a bit of "Public Speaking." Quite often one of us, would be asked to stand at the front of the classroom and speak for two minutes to the rest of the 'erberts, on a subject in which we had an interest.
If you included in your little speech, an "err" or an "um," you might have found a blackboard rubber sailing just over your head.
Few presenters or news readers can manage without either and the naffin' stuff is on an autocue right in front of them.

I agree about the nice bits of old-fashionisms and politeness, it makes such a difference to see especially a young person with manners and upbringing. Getting up when shaking hands with someone, checking if a door needs to be opened for anyone, putting the phone away in company (or at least when dining with someone!), using the fish knife correctly. Yes, fish knives are important! Very!

Things change and age, but politeness is all about making others feel comfortable. Surely that can't be bad? Unless we oldies turn into snobs in this area and just moan about the young ones and forgotten, better ways. Hmm... this is actually the Moan- topic ... back to the fish knives then!

 

Hmmm, I thought I was a polite person but turns out I'm an ignorant cow because I don't have any idea how to properly use a fish knife!

 

Just don't eat your peas off of it, then no one will notice
