When on holiday in the past, we often did a bit of "people watching," if we're relaxing sitting outside a pub with a drink on the sea front.

A middle-aged, overweight, bald-headed man in track suit bottoms, an Umbro sweatshirt and wearing white "holiday trainers," is worth the maximum ten points.

Here he would be in shorts, no tee shirt and flip flops ... and bright red called 'beef' here! NOT a pretty sight I can assure you. :hate-shocked:

    We love people watching.

Tattoos commemorating the highlights of football games- +10 points. NUC ones- +20 points

Our janitor Gary recently got a large tattoo on his back celebrating his Geordie roots and football associations. (Personally, I think those are the best kind of tattoos, they are honestly something you have chosen to live with. Tribals and Pamela Anderson barbed wires are not that smashing IMHO). Anyways, I admired the inkwork and told Gary that the spelling mistakes just add to the character. He went pale and probably spent the evening watching his back... [IMG] OK, that was mean and I told him the next day that it was a joke :)

Another good tat bit is a large one on a Finnish z-class celebrity who decided on a windmill design and a caption "when there is a mill, there's a way" on her belly. I'll try to find the article.

Digressing, thankfully we are in offtopic

I've never understood why some young women have tattoos. I don't find them attractive and over time they fade and become even more unattractive .

Someone mentioned this about tattoos on a music message board.

Check it out, as I did, there wasn't a tattoo between any of them.

Mind you young women dancing has changed a bit over the years. Makes me feel tired just watching. Maybe none of them could stay still long enough to get a tattoo?

So what's wrong with white trainers?

Mine are grey and I don't think it's because I don't clean them.

The "deal with it" comment reminded me of this bit of advice.

Now this is something I don't like ... wearing trainers (men or women) all year round! :nonofinger: I imagine they smell nice ... NOT! :eeew: I can remember walking in a friend's teenage son's room (with her I might add) and the smell was revolting! I think Febreze did an ad re this. There are things called shoes or sandals to wear at appropriate times. I am obviously old fashioned but also have a sense of style and taste. I do not own a pair of trainers.

These are the shoes I wear all year round - but not just one pair. I have three pairs, one for gardening, one for every day wear and one for good wear. So I also wear them to weddings and funerals. I'm unable to wear ordinary shoes, gardening shoes, wellies or sandals for medical reasons. They're not trainers and are even good for mountain walking. They're waterproof and breathable and good in any condition and are washable (on the outside).

As the shoes are very hard wearing I need to change the padded insoles regularly because the shoes outlast the insoles. The insoles cost about £15 per pair.

When we were on holiday in Turkey one time the hotel had a shoeshine man. Mrs Shiney had her leather shoes cleaned superbly by him and he then asked me if I wanted mine done. I said they're nor shoes that can be cleaned and he replied that all shoes can be cleaned. He did a fantastic job of them and used five different types of cleaner for the different materials that they're made from.
