Thanks @Sheal , it's been absolutely gorgeous. It's had three stems on it and has been flowering for about 4 weeks now. Still got a few more to open as well. Well worth the wait

 

Yes @KFF , that Iris seems to be a little slow to flower, but as you say it's worth the wait.

 

Finally I can join in again! Watsonia pillansii came through the winter unscathed and came into bloom today............

I have decided to start a collection of Iris. Browsing the web pages and catalogues, there are some beatiful flowers to be had.

Hi @NigelJ - they're gorgeous - especially c. laevigatus. I remember reading Christopher Lloyd saying that Snow Bunting was scented - are any of these?

 

@CarolineL Yes they are scented, a slight honeyed scent. It's easier to pick up on the pot grown ones in the greenhouse. Less air movement and a bit warmer. At this time of year the outdoor ones can get battered with the weather. The C laevigatus does better with the weather, being a bit smaller and lower.
