@Verdun there are other apple varieties available. Pears too. I have no idea how much sun they will get. Each daughter will get one each.

Any thoughts on sweet sue honeysuckle to cover the arch at the front gate?

Started a new border and planted these...

Bergenia 'Dragonfly Angel Kiss' plants | Thompson & Morgan

Geranium pratense 'Mrs Kendall Clark' | meadow cranesbill 'Mrs Kendall Clark'/RHS Gardening

Liatris spicata 'Kobold' | button snakewort 'Kobold'/RHS Gardening

The idea is that when one stops flowering another will start, providing pollinator-friendly flowers throughout the year when the border is finished. I just hope I've added enough grit to stop the Gayfeather from rotting in Autumn/Winter.

I s'ppose you could call it a job. I put this 32" Panasonic Viera TV up in the tea-house, it replaced the little 14" CRT portable that had been in there for over twenty years. I bought a piece of hardwood window sill to make a shelf for it. It might seem a bit of a waste, as it will only get occasional use by me if I'm in the garden. But we've nowhere else for it. We didn't want a TV in the bedroom and I've a little 14" in my office in the rack over my desk.

        P1030079.JPG

It used to live here in my "den." Alright...our front room. We've a big TV in the lounge.

        P1010896.JPG

This morning I realised I was the only one in our family of five and their other halves who watched TV in their several homes, (five between three of 'em) on a small set.
I was finding it difficult to read writing in letters or messages on phones, shown briefly to the camera in dramas, without freezing the screen. So I went out and bought this Sony Bravia 43" 4K.
It's a "temporary installation," it's sitting on a bit of laminate flooring as I need to have it raised, so the soundbar could go underneath. I didn't want a bigger TV table. I'll check on E-Bay for a stand that will raise it up off the table

        P1030083.JPG

Digressing, this is Wimbledon Champion Marion Bartolli, who that numpty John Inverdale described on live TV six years ago as, "never going to be a looker." Then had to make a grovelling apology. I don't know why the BBC still employes him. His comments on tennis are often rather juvenile..

        I find her quite attractive.

Couple of lawns, one job where a poor lady has been over charged for a lawn cut from some guy who never left contact details. A simple lawn cut and he took £150 for an hours work and just left a mess. Poor lady was in tears but it’s all tidy now. I really hate people who pick on the older generation!
I’ve a new Berthoud knapsack and just restocked on fertiliser with more due. Very comfy compared to my old Cooper and a built in pressure regulator. Done the checks with several nozzles and it’s on the ball which is nice.

Bloody hell @Logan, you must have a fairly large garden, 301 wallflowers would fill mine! :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

Liz the pot, the old lady charged £150 for 2 hours work is horrendous. I share your opinion about such scoundrels but what can we do?
Reminds me of an old....85 plus....lady who had her front garden cleared. A guy and his young son (still at school) called on a Saturday morning cut grass and hacked hedges and left it all as piles in her garden. She paid £200 for this “service”. They left after a couple or so hours’ work.
I made contact with this scoundrel and at least made sure he called to remove the rubbish.

Hey @Doghouse Riley there is a "what we did today other than gardening" style thread. Just a heads up as your first sentence seems to indicate you didn't know about it.

I had a Viera 42" a few years back and suddenly the bottom half of the screen didn't work. Like looking at photos of people where the photographer goofed up! :)

Back to garedening related stuff. I seem to have sorted out the little solar pumps that pull water from tne rain barrels and feed tne capillary troughs in the greenhouses. Dead chuffed. This has been a 6 week puzzler. Had to take one apart and fix a suspicious circuit only to meet with disappointment but suddenly, they started performing!

I also did a lot of deadheading, tidying, and generally admiring my orderly chaos out there.

                  It does not get better!:yahoo:

Thanks , I was aware and have posted on that thread. I just chose to use this one, as the tea-house is in the garden and at the moment, my connection to this website is extremely slow and it takes ages to move around it. So finding the more appropriate thread was taking too long.
It's not my laptop as other boards don't present any problems.

That is extortionate. If the elderly are looking their gardens cut or maintained surely the neighbours or community assoc. should rally round I would hate to think they were paying those prices around here. It's disgusting and immoral.

How easy is it to divide Crocosmia @Verdun and when is the best time to do it. I don't have lucifer but a more orange var. It was in my parents garden, sadly they have both passed on but I do want to spread this plant around my own garden a little more as fillers.

                              Morning BigC :)
You can do it in a couple of ways.....separating the little corms is one way but it is laborious and time consuming.
Here I dig up clumps and simply divide them with a spade and replant. Easy and plants will flower again the following year.
When? After flowering or most anytime is good
I’m thinking you might have the “common” montbretia. Down here it is a weed found in hedgerows, wild areas and in many folks’ gardens. Anyway propagated the same way as lucifer.
Be careful not to plant it everywhere though BigC....it can take over. .For that reason I divide my plants every 3 or 4 years or so to keep them compact :)
