I do think some gardeners overthink things and have to have a more complicated way to satisfy themselves, I have been told quite forcefully"fermenting is the only way". I just say that kitchen roll works for me so if you don't want the seeds then that is fine. Simplicity is best for me.

 

Just a thought.
When I was a kid many moons ago growing tomatoes were nearly always two tone, dark green on to and light green bottom half until they all turned red. Last year in search of the "old tomato taste" I decided to find old UK bred tomatoes from years ago and to my surprise so far my four bush varieties have all started like this. They are changing and perhaps this will give me what I want in terms of flavour, will have to wait on that though.
The cordons haven't produced any big enough to see yet.
I'm not after sweetness, to me that would seem artificial, only a good tomato taste like when I was a nipper helping mum on the allotment

No fruit on my tumbling tom so far, done everything the same as every year apart from using wilko compost this year.

Have you given the flowers a mist Mazambo..I was getting a lot of dry sets this year but they're now coming on a treat..

Funnily enough, the other day, I was wondering how it was getting on. Been picking mine for a couple of weeks now. It’s become a bit of a battle keeping up with the side-shoots. Went away for a few days and came back to some whoppers.

 

Does anyone else think their tomatos are going ballistic this year. I've got minibel's around a foot high with perhaps 60/70 fruit on each. Roma's are loaded up to about 4 ft as are the Ildi's and the Sungolds. Gardeners Delights ( thanks for the seed @JWK ) must be at least six ft high now and absolutely packed.

 

Polite answer....NO!
Mine are as mazambos', green, small or just flowers, worst I've known in ages. Cordons are well behind, the only saving grace are the bush varieties, quite a few small green toms but still not great.

Mine are doing really well too. I have six varieties and all are cropping. We're planning a blind taste test so I'll post the results when done.
