I think the MP's are so mentally blocked that they become like Politicians in certain Southern American countries.......the recognised standards of UK democracy has gone out of the window in the 3 years of trying to delay leaving the EU.:dunno::wallbanging:

Wow, I think this may be the only online community I've encountered that can discuss politics without devolving into a flame war, well done to all who contributed to the thread! :)

Well, we have had our moments" of :gaah::gaah::gaah::gaah:" , Nick"

, but they are rare and usually caused by members who don't last long in GC. I often post when offence etc is caused (either unwittingly or deliberately) that when posting they should think before posting if it could cause offence, think again, and then don't post it. We Admin post as ordinary members so that we can enjoy GC as much as everyone else in the GC Gang. We very rarely appear as Admin and only if a thread has become a little messy and tempers become a little fraught and then we try to cool things down politely. Should a member(s) ignore Admin then we take action that we hope is seen to be fair and neutral. But, you're right it's the members of the GC Gang who use logic, courtesy, respect, and a sense of humour in all of the thread when posting which is why they have my respect and I feel honoured to be part of it all.:love30:

@ARMANDII I'm certainly no frequenter of many fora, but on the only other one I'm a member of (an antiquities forum) politics have effectively been banned unless relating to cultural heritage or ancient times, and bear in mind that the moderator is rather libertarian in his approach. So I salute the staff here, and of course the members for their self-moderation! :)

Argh - I take offence and you should , erm, burn!! (I really have no idea about flame wars lol)

But going back to caretakers... If Prescott or Harriot became the caretakers they wouldn't need to give a hoot about the political niceties or political career - they could push actions through regardless of all the undoubted arguments and challenges thrown up by Parliament. Frankly that approach is required now irrespective of who' in charge simply to get us through this mire we're in. It's a bit like the inmates on death row at the moment - decades in legal challenges before a final decision is made.

JC continues to terrify and crack me up in equal measure...

Good morning everyone I do post the very rare post on here but that's because I have no understanding of politics or politicians, but on reflection that seems a little funny as a group of Owls are known as a parliament of Owls;):heehee:

Knowing you as I do, Woo, I doubt that very much:love30::love30:

But then looking the present idiots that we call MP's, and the situation that they have got us into,
then I think most of us don't understand them, or how they got voted in, and I think we call them by another "name" now anyway.:heehee:

Didn't catch it thankfully but it doesn't seem to sink in when JC says how bojo has no mandate that neither would he as a caretaker PM!

Well, Mrs May had no Mandate and neither has Boris......but as I said in an earlier post a certain SNP Politician (Ian Blackford) stood up in Parliament on Boris's first day in Parliament said that he welcomed Boris as he would be the last Prime Minister of the UK, (presumably because they want a 2nd Indepence Referendum), and then pointed out that Boris had no Mandate. Boris waited for him to stop gloating and ranting..........and then pointed that when the then leader of the SNP, Alex Salmond, was forced to resign then Nicola Sturgeon became the new Leader without even a vote within the Party, so she didn't have a Mandate either...........making the SNP idiot look like a Village Idiot, although that may be an insult to a Village Idiot.:dunno::heehee:

I always was under the impression that it was the party that had the mandate in any event?
