    Evening,
I'm back with results: tomatoes grown from freshly collected seeds (some lidl spanish cherry toms) are exactly the same. Very sweet, dense structure, minimum of juice - actually turned to be the sweetest of all the varieties I've grown this year: IMG_20190820_114211980.jpg IMG_20190820_122202166.jpg

I've grown Sungold which are small orange ones. Its just like eating sweeties. Lovely soft skins and so juicy. I often just snack on a little bowl full. 3 plants I thought had died but picked up following advice from the lovely people on this forum is more than I can get through even when its one for me..... one for the bowl.... when harvesting. My neighbours luv me.

I agree :), had Sungold last year, enjoyed so much eating them. Bought seeds already for the next year.

I ate one nearly ripe Red Alert yesterday, thought it might be hindering the rest on the plant. A very slight, hope it's not my impatience, barely perceptible change in some green toms(all my toms are still green) so perhaps things might be about to change.
Red Robin is leading the way in colour but still a way from being ripe.
I've also removed flowers and tiny toms I think have no chance of producing anything and hope this will concentrate effort on the well formed fruit.
          I live in hope:fingers crossed:

Anyone here growing Oh Happy Day? I’ve got 3 plants. They have an enormous yield! I’ve just counted 58 big toms on one and 60 on another! Only thing is, they seem a bit slow to ripen but I think that’s true of all my tomatoes this year. Apparently they are blight resistant but I didn’t want to risk it one my first try so they are all in the greenhouse

I filled a flower trough with home made compost and a couple of tomato plants have appeared amongst the flowers. They must have come from kitchen scraps thrown into the compost bins. It is late August now so is it too late for them to flower and fruit - and if it is - will I be able to overwinter them in a cool greenhouse?

                Nice, very nice.

Your evaluation is spot on as other members of our community garden said the same thing upon trying the "Grape" cherry tomatoes.

I often have them pop up all over the garden or in pots and rarely pull them. Some of the tastiest and fastest growing have found their way into my seed box.
I haven't got a compost bin and all waste food is recycled by the council so where they come from is a mystery, still I'm never one to turn down free toms and seeds. ;)

Ok, I've been far too busy working on the house and my tomatoes have been to say the least... NEGLECTED! However, I have managed to care for the gardeners delight I've propagated from the seed JWK kindly sent me, although planted late, I have some very nice looking trusses that will start ripening soon, yes, I will be saving seed.

As for Manx Marvel? the worse you treat them the more they like it!

Have been cropping my Terenzo and Glacier outdoor grown tomatoes. Very good crops considering the truly awful summer we've had this year.

The Glacier seeds were very old when sown but worked a treat so will be keeping some seed for next year. Even the sideshoots which i removed and stuck in a pot are now producing ripe toms.

The red sweet peppers are now turning red too. Palermo, seeds from Aldi pepper i bought and ate in January.

Sungold. 1 plant, twin stemmed, 12 trusses. Will be doing this again next year.

@Susieshoe yes I have one plant I'm trying for the first time. Lovely taste and nice big unmarked fruit. I have 3 or 4 fruit per truss so mine is not a big yield. They have ripened about the same speed as my other varieties which is much later this year. Only Sungold has kept ripening all summer long.

I've just found Blight in my greenhouse and all varieties are showing symptoms except for Oh Happy Days and Magic Mountain. I've sprayed with Bordeaux Mix but may be too late to save them all. It will be interesting to see if Oh Happy Days survives.

I’ve just ordered some new blight resistant seeds from pennard plants, hoping for good results. So far, have avoided blight this year, fingers crossed but I think that only growing Crimson Crush outdoors, plus having a blight free year last year has helped.
