Now that the heat has diminished I may get some work done out there. No grass to cut as we've had almost no rain for two months and the ground is cracking up. Very careful picking of blackberries is needed otherwise I may have trouble distinguishing between blackberry juice and blood!

As we have had so little rain the blackberries are not too happy and haven't grown to their normal size

          P1440168.JPG

The plants are definitely suffering from lack of rain. There are four of the bushes and none of them are doing well.

The bamboo is happy with our drought.

Bought these lovely osteospernums at the beginning of the summer. They were advertised as a new variety. The original blooms died off quickly and I had stopped expecting anything more from them, but, lo, they are back after ten weeks or so!

Who needs to grow blackberries? Masses of them on the Towans approaching the beach. :)
                Delicious too :)

Gardening is now only about deadheading and picking beans, tomatoes and salads. However, prob will make notes about moving plants around:)

Thought I might be getting rid of one or two plants but they have performed well this year :)

Hubby picked the cooking apples, we only had 4lb this year, very poor.

Would have had a few more but the black birds got there first.

The garden is basically running itself so all I'm doing is the odd deadheading, putting in canes for any tall plants that need a little more support. I bought 8 fish (4 good sized Gold Fish and 4 good sized Shubunkins today and on getting home I slipped them into the pond. They obviously weren't upset by the journey because they took the food I offered them straight away.........and then I sat with Jenny:cat-kittyandsmiley: and a mug of Tea and sat watching the flowers moving in the breeze and the Butterflies fluttering from plant to plant........a hard day:dunno::whistle::heehee:

Mixed lot of garden chores today. Had a final drastic thin of the two vines.

Had a coffee break on the east patio as that is a real sun trap in the mornings IMG_20190828_100221_hdr.jpg
Potted up some winter Pansies. After lunch I went back to sorting out and cleaning the greenhouse...no pics as it still looks a tad like a bomb exploded in there!!:heehee:

This evening I collected up some more seeds.

Lawns mown, tomatoes picked and plants moved......helenium short n sassy divided earlier in the year and now flowering well was planted out. Hackonechloa Old Gold planted out too....tonight's rain should water them in :)

Am I the only one not to enjoy chrysanthemums? Earlier today some folks were raving about them but, for me, they are vastly over rated plants. Their flowering is brief and their habit ungainly. Won’t have them here!
