On our local lunchtime radio prog the presenter called for the remainers to phone in??? “ too many callers in favour of leaving the EU” he said.:love30: For a sense of “balance” he said, or was he told??
I’m as well edikated as most but, as a leaver, I’m identified as a thicko who didn’t know what I was voting for. Of course, nobody has actually said that to my face!

Essentially, I simply want the UK to make its own laws and to control its own destiny.

Besides the leavers did win the referendum vote.:noidea:

I want a new referendum just to see what all the fuss is about now!

Wonder how far the MP's will push it when it comes to it. Being deselected is no small thing

I watched Hard Talk (BBC 1) at 4.30 this morning. Stephen Sackur was interviewing Peter Bone. An excellent half hour interview. A lot of points brought up in a fairly tough interview and, looking at it dispassionately, you could make a good conclusion either way depending on your point of view. :blue thumb:

        A very good interviewee.

My simple mind is becoming more confused by what is going on:scratch:

We have the R soles saying they want Boris to ask for another extension until the end of Jan, at the same time
they are saying no meaningful negotiations are taking place at the moment.

The EU have said all negotiations are now over, so what the hell do the R soles think is going to happen between Oct and Jan?

I can only assume they are holding out for a "no Brexit" rather than what they are saying, which is not a "no deal Bexit"?

I think its time the EU sorted this out, and said we are out at the end of Oct.
I've never had much time for the EU but maybe they should make a stand and finish it as our incompetent lot dont seem to be able to.

            Factoid:

            406 constituencies voted LEAVE
            242 constituencies voted REMAIN

Why are we still in the EU?

              Hi,

How did we get into such a mess in the first place; didn't we sign up to trade with and not to buy other countries.

The only time the EU will want us out is when we no longer have money to support them with.

Looking at the MP's on the benches in Parliament always reminds me of "The Muppet Show".

              Kind regards, Colin.

I never really believed we would leave the EU.
Yesterday’s and today’s votes in Parliament have just about made sure we will not leave.
So much for the “we respect the referendum” so many MP’s chanted!

Well, there's not much time for anyone to do anything positive, Pete. A vote tonight to stop Boris from leaving a NO DEAL BREXIT looks like going through and he looked a bit frustrated and in despair today while in Parliament. And you're right, asking for another extension is pointless as the EU won't accept any other deal that the one they agreed with May and won't renegotiate any change or accept the Backstop removed. And those imbeciles in Parliament have voted that deal down 3 times and can't agree any other deal to present to the EU, so it could be that any forced request by Boris (assuming he would do that) that the EU would say "NO" because they too realise it would be pointless as Parliament are incapable of agreeing on anything.
Having said that I was watching the BBC News and their Senior Politics Reporter, Norman Smith, went through the actions that Boris could take should the vote to make him ask for an extension while taking NO DEAL BREXIT off the table, and the one I thought was genius was that Boris could go to a meeting with the EU to request another extension............and, as the UK is still one of the 28 members of the EU he could, as a EU member, veto against it should the EU agree to an extension........as there is nothing Parliament could do as it's in the EU legislation.
There's obviously a General Election in the offing and all those MPs who have resigned or have jumped ship to another party have been able to do so as they are (a) Wealthy enough to do so (b) Have several jobs as Directors on companies

I think the EU would see that one coming and find a way of stopping it happening.

Lets face it, we are up against it from all sides, the EU dont want us to leave and our lot dont want us to leave.
Maybe its time to give up all hope of ever leaving the clutches of this Mafia type organisation we appear to have got into bed with.

Well...my 'contacts' tell me that the EU will not agree to another extension.

                      Sorted.

I can't agree with this - Parliament are not that good.

I think those that want to 'keep the bloody foreigners out' are not as many in number as you think. There are, however, many more like me that want to limit the number of people coming into the country. To be blunt, I am sick and tired of this attitude that because I voted leave, I am somehow a rabid racist, because that is simply not true.

It's been like that from the start, Pete:wallbanging:

Actually, pete, believe it or not, it's in the EU legislation that each and every member has the right to veto any request or agreement within the EU, so for the EU it's a double edged sword. So, it's not as far fetched as you might think, but having said that it's the very last thing Boris would try.
However victorious the Parliament thinks it is about being able to take a "NO DEAL BREXIT" off the negotiating table, they have a problem. They want Boris to go to the EU with the instruction to ask for another extension, which is pointless and both the EU and those in Parliament know that, while Boris has said openly in Parliament that he will not do that, and will call for a General Election. Labour will not support a General Election unless it's under their conditions......to which Boris will not agree......tick tock. So unless there's a change where Labour changes it's mind, Boris can still carry on "negotiating" with the EU.....tick tock. When the 31st October arrives the Parliament has no powers to to (a) make the EU give the UK an extension and it has to be agreed by both sides and (if Boris won't ask for it:dunno:) then the UK will find itself in a NO DEAL BREXIT come midnight on the 31st October. (b) The Scottish Courts have said it's legal for Boris to prorogue Parliment for the the length of time he has.....tick tock. so it's hardly likely that any legal actions, in an English Court, to stop proroguing will succeed as he is entirely with the constitution. (c) Unless there's some centuries old legislation I don't know about Parliament cannot push Boris out of the way and negotiate themselves with the EU and I'm pretty sure that the EU will only recognise and deal with the UK Prime Minister in any BREXIT negotiations....tick tock. (c) There is talk about reviving May's plan by the Imbeciles, which is the only one that the EU recognises and which Parliament voted down 3 times, and taking it back to the EU requesting minor changes......but not removing the Back Stop. That has about no chance of being viable as Parliament can't agree on anything and how idiotic would that appear to the world......not that the Imbeciles representing us in Parliament seem to worried or aware of that...tick tock. So despite all the legislations today within the Parliament, Boris applying for, and not getting, a General Electlon, the imbeciles giving Boris an instruction he won't carry out, it's all about......tick tock.

                          upload_2019-9-4_21-13-6.jpeg = 31st October = Artical 50 = Midnight = BREXIT, DEAL OR NO DEAL.

Technically he can, Pete, and should he not do so there'll wlll be a lot of Hoo Haa, outrage, and motions to make him..........tick tock. Boris, despite appearances, is not that worried about "negotiating" with the weapon of "NO DEAL BREXIT" off the table".....why??, well, he knows (as we all know), as the EU will not accept any change to the May Agreement and, even though a "NO DEAL BREXIT" is off the Parliamentary table, Boris is adamant about removing the Back Stop which the EU will not agree to. EU has been saying "NON" thoughout the last 3 years to every request made in the negotiations by the UK Government and they also know there is no point to another extension because (a) the UK Parliament will not vote for the original May/EU agreement as they have voted it down 3 times (b) It's obvious to the EU and the rest of the World, that despite their opposition to a NO DEAL BREXIT they haven't a plan to place before the EU because they are incapable of agreeing to anything

I seem to recall that there are only 27 members voting on Brexit (ie not UK) so I don't think we can veto anything wrt Brexit. I honestly don't know.

The legislation to stop a no-deal defines what Boris MUST write to the EU and how and timeframe to respond if we don't like their reply!

No party is agreeing to an election without no-deal taken off the table because they know damned well the people will vote against whatever parliament want at this time as we're sick of them all!! The EU won't end our internal spats as they want to be seen as the reasonable and calm ones (not too hard really) and as they don;t want us gone then they'll eke this idiocy out as long as possible if there's a remote hope of a new PM offering a new referendum and retraction of A50.

There's another news article about UK being on point of recession. May as well brace for it as this brexit process is screwing the economy hard in withdrawal and in future investment opportunity and its the bloody politicians doing it.

What's the point in having a government if we don't let them govern? All this BS about mandates and whining could be stopped dead if they just require an election if a PM resigns or otherwise removed from office.

Come what may, I will NOT vote for Corbyn to be PM come the election and I am utterly ashamed in parliament. It is a national embarrassment to the detriment of the UK and Commonwealth.
