15685837122050.jpg First year of serious fruit production from the apple tree since I gave it a massive pruning 5 years back. Got two boxes of good-quality apples wrapped and boxed, one basket of apples with previous consumers/inhabitants which I'll chop up and eat the ok bits, and the rotten ones in the bin.

Plus another day of weeding in the front garden.

I prefer to use a brush, a roller will splash it all over. :)

The rotten ones, and the bits you would normally throw away, are OK to go on the compost heap unless you're troubled with rats. :blue thumb:

No compost heap yet. The back garden is still such a mess, and I'm still working on what to do with it! When I've got more stuff figured out, then maybe.

Started cutting out the old branches of the currant bushes. Haven't been done for a few years. I'll put them in a pile at the back of the garden for the bugs and wildlife.

No rush, Graham, take your time and then, if you can, find space for that compost heap as it will provide lovely black organic material for your garden.:coffee:

I remembered two crates of Tulip and Daffodil bulbs that I planted last year and then dug up and then stored in the Garage and then, inevitably, forgot about, so I dragged the 2 crates out onto the Patio to sort them out. There was probably about 400 bulbs in both crates, so I sat on the patio with 3 empty buckets in front of me, one for the Tulips, one for the Daffs, and one for the rubbish and soil. I wore gloves or the soil would have got ingrained in my fingers and started cleaning the bulbs off and enjoyed about an hour and a half sitting in the Sun just sorting the bulbs out. I checked every one for rot and being withered and probably lost about 20% of both Tulips and Daffs which I thought wasn't too bad. But on counting the Bulbs found I had just over 1000 bulbs(more Daffs than Tulips) due to my splitting the decent sized bulbs that had grown similar sized bulblets.
So, now I have to find space for them, while knowing that I ordered another 300 Daffs and 150 Tulip bulbs only two weeks ago.:wallbanging:
Oh, and one of my Neighbours gave me a visit to thank me for the numerous Frogs that had migrated from my wildlife pond to set up camp in her garden!!:hate-shocked::dunno::heehee:. She and her daughters love them so she was very pleased to have them hopping around. Most things can't get in or out of my garden due to the high fences and solid gates, but the Frogs can squeeze under the one and half in gap between the bottom of the high garden gate and the brick pavered path.

Not a lot needed doing. I mowed the lawn yesterday, for the second time in five days, even with our small lawn I had to empty the grassbox half way round. Pulled some yellowing leaves off a couple of rhodos, always get a few at this time of the year, but lots of healthy leaves and buds in evidence. Gave small areas of the lawn where there's a bit of moss another dose of iron sulphate.
Might tackle painting the pergola rail tomorrow.

Just watering got done as I had to re-grout the shower floor which took me longer than I had anticipated because the grinding out of the old went slowly. Then I tackled repairing the ice dispenser. Glued a broken part for the latter which I will put back in tomorrow but I know I'll need a new one so have enquired after it. Hope it is not too costly.

I've got a break in rain here so I'll run out and repair the electric fence before the clouds return. Something big must have wrestled with it. Probably a raccoon. It doesn't harm them, just gives them an unpleasant jolt every 4 seconds. They usually opt to leave the area.

I hope to be picking hot peppers tomorrow as I have bought ice cube trays for freezing them after crushing. Yup, I have two ice making fridges and still needed the trays anyway!

Best get going on that fence. It's nice to see and near about harvesting and spring displays in the works over there. :)

Not much to do at the moment, just a bit of watering and deadheading.

I'm giving myself a day off today.

I'm giving some time to my other hobbies, might teach myself a new tune on my leccy piano.
But I might just catch up on recorded TV programmes. a lot of NFL and American college football to catch up on.
"Gridiron" is still the most popular game amongst young people in the USA. Universities have huge stadiums, attendances of over 100,000 are not uncommon. Usually the University brass band is in attendance in a block in the stands, necessary, as they can be over 100 strong. It's a great spectacle.

Got my invoicing and bookings all up to date. About to start afternoon 2 of pruning the native hedge around the chicken paddock.

Afternoon 1 saw us prune the blue line. Just got the green line left to prune.

I used to burn the hedge clippings in the paddock but now we have the poly tunnel there I have to barrow it to the skip (orange line) which makes the job a bit more involved.

This has to be my most disliked gardening job of the year
                            garden.jpg

Once Ive finished that hedge I move on to the garden hedge

@andrews that is a huge lot you have there! I'm getting land envy :)

Can't decide if I really need to move that shed. I'll empty it and then make up my mind :)

I plan to be out there most of the afternoon so something will get accomplished no matter what dithering goes on!

I've just had a giant bonfire and am letting it burn down now. It was about 10ft diameter and 8ft high. I had the hose going alongside and hosed down the nearby trees and any fire that tried to run through the dry grass. It's now only 5ft diameter and just a 3ft high pile of burning embers. It will probably still be burning inside when I go out there at dawn.
