Apart from mowing all I've done is veg picking and apple and pear picking and then we've been cooking the apples for storage in the freezer. Only another few hundred pounds to pick. :rolleyespink:

We also give windfalls (six barrow loads) to friends that help us out and they cook or juice them.

Aw!! @luciusmaximus that's a real shame about the baby mouse.. You did everything possible to give him a fighting chance of surviving, but sadly it wasn't to be.

So sorry to hear about Chippy, I know it doesn't make it any easier but was he old/ poorly?

Why do you think Amber and Sebastian reacted as they did, was it their first time away from home?

What feedback did you receive from the buns & pigs hotel?

Please don't feel guilty ( easier said than done I know) , your intentions were good and you did everything in your power to ensure their welfare was catered for while you were way......you couldn't have done more for any of them.
I'm sure that A&S will rally round now they are back in your care.
Keep us updated if it's not too upsetting for you. x:grphg:

I refreshed my window box by turfing out the summer bedding and planting mini daffs and iris. I dug out and moved a struggling hamamelis "Arnolds Promise" shrub. It didn't keep it's promise in that part of my garden so now it has another chance to shine. I cut back high plants in the back of the border and got to grips with some of the unwanteds growing in the depths. Mulched the apricot tree which is in a large pot on the patio. It will be moved in the conservatory before the first frost.

Cleared the cucumbers and tomatoes out of the conservatory and vacuumed all the leaves up from the chillies and cut some back that hadn't any flowers on. The ones that have i don't know if anything will come of them because it gets a bit cold in there.

                Hi,

Having been pestered with soakings from my personal black cloud Blackie all my life I finally got around to buying waterproof trousers; the trousers have just arrived and they are large size; when I tried them on the waist elastic was so strong it made them unwearable; as they only cost around £8 they are now in the wheelie bin; size large yet the label reads L = 14/23 inches relaxed/extended the actual trousers would have been OK apart from the constrictive waist elastic. To add insult to injury as soon as I stepped onto the patio heading to the wheelie bin Blackie got me again to the split second. I can't be bothered returning them it's just not worth the hassle.

We have a safety clothing center on the outskirts of Huddersfield so I'll be visiting to try on waterproof trousers shortly. Blackie wins again. :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:

                Kind regards, Colin.

My waterproofs have a snug fitting waist too, think they are designed that way. I've had mine for about 30yrs now, my sons had some too so that we were all kitted out for the wet weather school runs.:dbgrtmb: Mine are now used in the garden during damp weather.Very tough wearing !!:)

I've given up on wet weather gear @Retired I'm sure they're designed to stop your circulation...I just venture out in my 'old gardening stuff' then come in and get changed.

Sunday, sawed down two old dying conifers, moving bones to the burn pile. one of the areas I will rototill and move some extra shrubs there. one will be an Annabelle, then Calacarpia, then a yellow wax bell.

                          Hi,

                          Thanks Upsy. :dbgrtmb:

                          Trousers_0001.JPG

Above shows the card which came with the trousers; I'm 34" waist but I bought large expecting a baggy fit; I was amazed as I tried to put the new trouser on as to how tight the elasticated waist was; no way could I work in these and the details shown above explain why. 23" extended is way short of my 34"; in the wheelie bin they've gone and the bin has been emptied.

I set off at 2 o'clock this afternoon to visit a friend who owns a metal spinning company; I'm always fascinated whilst he shows me around his works seeing the diversity of the items being spun. As I approached the yard entrance I thought he's out because his pick up wasn't parked but I parked up and wandered into the works; speaking to the works manager I was very sadly informed my friend has suffered an heart attack; fortunately he survived and is making a steady recovery at home but he's grounded for a month no longer allowed to drive. This is something which can't be laughed off and a warning to de-stress his life. My friend is a very hard worker having built his company from scratch and now he suffers an heart attack; there's no justice in our world. Bron and I wish him a full and speedy recovery.

                          I diverted on the way home to the outskirts of Huddersfield;

Safety Equipment Centre Huddersfield - Huddersfield, West Yorkshire

There at last I tried on a pair of waterproof trousers before buying; at £24 they cost three times as much as the eBay trousers but the eBay trousers were dearest because they couldn't be worn and I dumped them. At £7.95 for the eBay trousers it just wasn't worth the time and effort to return them for a refund.

Thanks Lolimac; I've been doing as you do but am now absolutely fed up of soakings from Blackie hence the hassle now with trousers; I've now got wellies; waterproof trousers and a heavy waterproof "site" coat with hood; bring it on Blackie I no longer care you're not going to stop me pottering around in the garden any longer. Just to wind the big key up in my back it's now a glorious sunny warm afternoon. :wallbanging:

                          Kind regards, Colin.

Thanks Lolimac; I'm pretty sure my friend will have heeded the warning. :blue thumb:

I've not seen waterproof night attire on my travels but what a good idea; M&S should introduce a range. :lunapic 130165696578242 5:
