I managed to clear one lawn of leaves and filled two builders bags in the process. Of course it started to drizzle halfway through but I carried on and once back indoors the sun decided to shine.

We had that problem last year. It only affected the big bushy Fuchsia magellanica. So we cut them down and dug them up - we thought! One of the bushes was 8ft high and 15ft long. This September it decided to grow back. It's now 3ft high and just started to flower. No sign of the Gall Mite  :fingers crossed:

Planted a big tub with daffodils, wallflowers and polyanthus. The tub was in the back garden and I wanted to move it around the front by the porch door. It was too heavy with the compost in so i got a smaller container, got nearly all the compost out and put the tub where i wanted it. Had to use a washing up bowl to fill with the compost and take it round the front, took me a few trips to fill the big tub up and that's where it's going to stay.

They forecast rain all day here but we just have the clouds without the precipitation. So I keep popping out for the odd half hour and carrying on doing lawn edges.

Not a lot today, helped Carol with the final Brug shelter, took 3 of our "babies" out for a walk, tried sorting out some pension paperwork, then took some extra strong painkillers 'cos my arthritis is back with a vengeance! Oh, did all the washing up too.

Now to bed for a snooze (I hope), and munchies with the gorgeous Amber...... (Liver Spotted Dalmatian)!

Yes, but I've been experimenting with the Shineyland force field. I turn it off at night and it seems to be working very well. The solar panels work well with it. We've had 6kWh today and 11.5 yesterday. :blue thumb:

I've just come in from doing some more edging and turned off the FF. So it's now spitting a little bit.

The occasional night time rain has softened the lawn edges just sufficiently for me to get a good edge on them.

Beech hedge got another pruning today.
                        Planted some more garlic.
Made ready for the felling of a mature silver birch.
Its a lovely tree, 45 years old but it blocks the sunlight from the patio, drops its leaves in the netted pond. Causes moss on the roof because of the leaves, pollen and shading.
The wood pigeons wont be happy either.
Was tempted to fell it myself but decided on a tree surgeon instead.

Good idea to let them do it. The branches can be quite brittle.

Your right i noticed that today cutting a few branches off. The sap must have already gone back down to the roots. Wood very light in weight. Wont take long to dry for the open fire next winter.

I spent part of the day on my knees by the two tiered long wooden bench where most of the Bearded Iris in large pots are. My original intention was to just de-weed the pots but on seeing how many new Iris corms were in each of the 57 pots I decided dig them out and leave just a good corm in each pot.

I've only done 4 pots and have at least 20 or so good new corms that I dropped into a bucket and will have to decide what to do with them..........but I'm wondering how many I will end up with by the time I get through all 57 pots and what I'm going to do with them:dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee::doh:
