Had spent the day at my mums and split an absolutely huge geum totally tangerine. Replanted a few and got some for my own garden. Had also divded some sedums and armeria etc.

I’ve also bought a clematis montana to plant in the back garden which will hopefully attach its self to the old wire fencing. We planted a white passionflower in the summer and it has done really well.

@Snorky85 the montana may be a bit much for that fence and may also swamp the passionflower unless you keep it cut back regularly.

They can get out of hand pretty quickly. This took only three years!!! :hate-shocked:

@shiney good point! I’ve got one at home and it is a bit of a beast. I’ll actually put it on the fence around the other side(there is a field entrance to the left of the house that is totally neglected and we get weeds growing up the wire fencing. I’ll grow it up there instead as it will look much nicer. It can then grow as much as it wants along all that side.

I have lit the outdoor wood stove and am baking the soil from the Shineybrid pots. They have a delightfully small root ball so I didn't have to fight hard to save most of the soil. But it will need sterilizing before bringing inside for this winter's re-start.
I'm hoping to get quite a bit cooked before my appointment to have my snow tires/rims put on my little car. Then only one vehicle left to change wheels as I had already done it on the van.
I will also be harvesting the first of the super hots from the 6x8 greenhouse. These will be the chocolate douglah peppers. They do look like chocolate but of course, they are wickedly hot!

We haven't had any substantial snow, Lori, here in West Cheshire since around '93. We've had around half an inch that lasts 24 hours to 48 hours but that's about it:dunno::heehee:
My order for "Allium Purple Rain" arrived today to add to those waiting to be planted in the borders. I'm still waiting for another 6 orders
of Alliums and 4 orders of Fritillarias to arrive so I've decide not to plant the 150 or so Alliums sitting in a box until the rest arrive as things will get a bit dis-organised. I've also got 225 Crocus waiting to be placed in the borders but since they will be planted shallower, and on top of, than the Alliums so they will be the last to be planted. I've also got around 26 or so Hardy Perennials to go in the borders so I'm trying to devise a plan as to where they will go but don't want to plant them until the Alliums and Fritillarias have arrived. I also have to take into account that I've already planted around 400 Tulips in the borders, and have 2 more buckets of last years Tulips and Daffs waiting in the Green House.
I've also ordered 3 Ferns from Blue Bell Nursery in Ashby de la Zouch in South Derbyshire which is only 68 miles away from me, and I intend to visit it next year.
I also have a Blue Bell Nursery only about 8 miles from me tucked down a long, one car width, country lane and I have visited that to find it is a lovely uncommercialised Nursery where it has a great range of Hardy Perennials, and in a tiny Hut you can make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and not that 'orribe machine stuff!!:coffee::heehee: Anyway, I've had a phone call, this morning, from the Blue Bell Nursery in Ashby de la Zouch who said that they'd just sold out of one of the Ferns I'd ordered and they would refund the money. I asked them if they had an alternative and the owner said he would go and look and would call me back. He called me back in 25 minutes and told me he had a Fern that had a different name but looked almost identical to the one I ordered. I have bought from them several times before and they are, the unfortunately slowly vanishing old fashioned type of Nursery that really cares about the plants they sell and the customers they sell to, so I do trust their judgement and I've agreed to place the new Fern in the order as a replacement. Gardening ain't simple these days due to the vast amount of plants on offer by so many sources on line, but I'm lucky that I've found two Nurseries, near and far, that I know worry about the standards of the plants and customer care because that is how they survive as a business.
Now I'm waiting, impatiently, for the outstanding orders to arrive:doh::dunno::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

I chickened out... for the moment, on ordering the Alliums I was coveting @ARMANDII because I still haven't figured out where I'd put them. I think I'm best to see what survived transplanting this year and then decide what new additions can be incorporated.

Back outside now to carry on baking. Cheers

Started putting bubble wrap up in the greenhouse although it looks like Mickey Mouse has used bits to make a nest where it was stored in the garage!!:rolleyespink:

                      Hi,

Expecting a bad winter last year Lori; Bron and I spent £600 on a set of Michelin Cross Climate tyres; the only snow we got was a dusting. GRRRRR.

                      Just for interest we used this company who came out and fitted the tyres to the car on our driveway; no hassle at all just brilliant service and it worked out a lot cheaper than buying through eBay; free fitting too for four tyres and the whole job only took an hour;

                      Kind regards, Colin.

Planted the clematis Montana here instead. Did some more weeding and tidying up, chopping off some of the older alchemilla mollis leaves etc.
