        Bureaucracy!!!

Mrs Shiney went to the doc yesterday (when she phoned for an appointment they said they could fit her in in ten day's time but she then went straight there and said she'll wait :paladin: :heehee:) He gave her a form for an X-ray at the hospital and we turned up there first thing this morning. The lady in the X-ray dept reception said that the doctor should have notified them online so she shall have to phone them. Ten minutes later she had the X-ray :blue thumb: and told it would take five working days for them to get the results to the doc.

So we went straight back to the surgery to book her in for the appointment. They told her they couldn't even think of making an appointment until the results arrived and then it would be two weeks before she could get an appointment! She told them "rubbish!" and insisted on a telephone appointment, to be told the results, in six working days time and they have given it to her. :yay:

Good for Mrs. Shiney! I have had some pretty frightening experiences lately with medical clerical workers. They had my name wrong, then they put another person's medical history in my chart for the anaesthesist to take into account but I straightened her out that I do not have COPD, High blood pressure, diabetes and all sorts of ailments which I did not recognize. And this just moments before being wheeled into the operating room. I would have thought that the other person's chart indicating they weigh 280 pounds would have been an obvious clue that something was amiss. I am a big gal, but not THAT big!

Then they wanted to make an appointment to take care of the cataract in my third eye. I guess they felt that since my left and right eyes worked out fine, then they'd have another go.

It is increasingly hard to keep one's cool with some of these people.

I just hope the legal system isn't as messed up as the medical. I've been called up to report for jury duty next month. I figure I'll probably get told, as soon as they see that I'm an tough old bird, that I'm not needed and to go home but I am betting that I will have to go through 8 or so hours of waiting for the decision. Better take a book with me!

Please Doctor. May I be ill in four weeks time???????????????????

At my GP Surgery. They are all very high tec. Electronic self sign in etc, also a read out of the number of non kept appointments. Probably due to the fact, the patient had got better or pegged out.

@shiney I think they'd regret it if they selected me because I cannot mask my feelings. My face shows it all and that's why I'm lousy at cards :rolleyespink:

I find that the NHS have a pretty stupid way of identifying you via your date of birth.
a few years ago I was refused treatment because I needed to get my esophagus cancer treatment done first.
The letter was sent to me stating this, then I looked at the name and it was the same christian name, but the surname was different.
DOB was similar just one different number.

At my next hospital appointment I took the letter with me, it was snatched away and not a word said.

Oh, @pete I am so glad you survived your cancer. :grphg: My brother didn't because it spread to the rest of his body while he smoked pack after pack of cigarettes. Three packs a day. Such a nasty addiction he had. But I was lucky and got to spend a good day with him on his last here on earth. :)

I'm still puzzled as to why they could mistake me for a 280 pound woman. I don't weigh in at more than 200, unless I have my axe in hand! When I took down the set of winter tyres on steel rims to be switched onto my mustang, the tyre guy was shocked when I handed them to him. Always fun to see the look on a fellow's face when encountered by a brute like me

I'd just like to point out I didn't have cancer but ended up getting a letter that should have been sent to someone else due to the stupid way the NHS ID people.
It contained pretty much this person's whole medical problems.

So pleased to hear the good news Pete.

I remember some years ago, some of my father's medical records had been put on my file. I was really shocked when asked about my GSW gunshot wounds. Dad had been shot during the war.

Then just recently. Following my op in January last. Follow-up instructions never reached my file. My consultand did his pieces when he found out last month. My latest operation showed more cancer cells.. I am now booked in for further surgery in December. Life never has a dull moment.
