I'm no mathematician, but even I can work out that Scotland has more MPs in Parliament than its population suggests.

      @pete ,
These are the actual figures for MP's /constituencies for the whole of the UK ..........

      England........ 533
      Scotland......... 59
      Wales............. 40
      N.I.................... 18

      Total no....... 650

Now if going by your reckoning of 20% then Scotland would have 130 seats , way over the 59 ( approx 9% ) it does.

I'd have sworn it was 129 seats, however it appears that I got that wholly wrong - it is 59 according to Wikipedia. My apologies.

On the upside, that makes it even less possible that the wee nyaff would ever be in a position of power in the UK parliament.

What is very interesting is if you look at the results from the 2017 GE for Scotland -
            • Scottish National Party: 977,569 (36.9%)
            • Conservatives: 757,949 (28.6%)
            • Labour: 717,007 (27.1%)
            • Liberal Democrats: 179,061 (6.8%)
            • Green Party: 5,886 (0.2%)
            • UK Independence Party: 5,302 (0.2%)
            • Others: 6,921 (0.3%)

So less Scottish people voted for the SNP than voted to leave the EU (1,018,322)!

Yes, thanks for the correction @KFF .:blue thumb:

But as @Fat Controller shows the numbers never seem to stack up in any elections, we always end up with the party with the minority of votes being in power:scratch:

And, don't forget that the Wicked Witch of Scotland will never be at Westminster herself because although being the SNP leader she has never stood as a Parliamentary Candidate.

This will be my first time voting in Scotland. What a great choice I've got. In fact this is the first time I've been able to vote in 27 years - oh joy!

Yeah but if you add the ones that didn't win up they are the greater, the system is busted.

Sorry Pete, that doesn't make sense.

For example that's like saying the best selling record isn't number 1 because the rest of the top 10 sold more when added together.

Just saying that your MP will be from another party even if the one you wanted lost by one vote.

We need to get rid of the system we have now and go for proportional representation.

If we had had that Brexit would have been solved, one way or the other 2 yrs ago.
