      Hi,

Many thanks for your cheery thoughts Woo; I've got sunglasses and for a brief period each year use them to prevent snow blindness. Hot decaf tea and cold water are my tipple; we've plenty of water for both.:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

C'mon Upsy; if we move to a warmer drier place what would I have to moan about on here each day; we regard a monsoon as a splash these days since Blackie lives with us; I doubt you could be harsh even if you tried; :cat-kittyandsmiley:if you get fed up of dry sunshine why not have a weeks holiday in Yorkshire; pity you can't bring your gardens along too for a good soaking. Yes this certainly is it; Bron and I are definitely Yorkshire born and bred; moving home is a huge gamble; we could simply exchange the problems we have here for new problems elsewhere and it might upset Blackie if we did move. Better the devil we know? :ThankYou:

In spite of the usual dire weather and getting wet I wandered down to the workshop and have enjoyed a practice session TIG welding aluminium then wet again as I returned to the bungalow; it's still so dark here at 12:19pm I need the desk lamp switched on. A fireman's pole into the workshop would be useful?

      Kind regards, Colin.

      Workshop Thurs_0005.JPG

As you rightly say Woo every cloud has a silver lining; our gardens look lovely given the watering they constantly receive. When Blackie really tries the steps in the picture make a wonderful cascade similar to the cascade at Chatsworth House. :yahoo:

It rained steadily and consistently throughout the night, and it's still raining now so there's not much outdoor work to do that won't get you wet. It's not exactly warm or mild with a temperature of 43f and what winds there are, are coming from the SouthEast. So my Cat is fast asleep on the Sofa, while I try to sort out the 3 parcels of plants and bulbs that arrived this morning ready for planting when the weather decides to dry out. So the total rainfall at the moment is 18mm and the pressure reading is 974hpa.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Well, the temperature has dropped from 43f to 41f here, Logan, and it hasn't stopped raining steadily all day andA night, so we've now had 22mm, going on 23mm, of rain so far. The prediction is that we will have rain until the early hours of Friday morning and then some more over the weekend:wallbanging: Oh, and because my Cat has woken up and seen the rain coming down, she's bored and mithering me!!

              Hi,

              We've got a few puddles along the street; 59mm of rain in 12 hours and another 15mm expected;

              upload_2019-11-7_20-14-18.png

Living here on the steep valley side has benefits; we don't flood due to the water heading to the valley bottom; high wind though can be a real worry.

The Ship Inn in the picture above is forever being flooded; surely it would be cheaper to demolish it because it's shaking hands with The River Calder?

I worked in a nearby mill for years this too next to the river and it used to be frightening as we lifted goods clear of the invading water. Blackie has been relentless today not breaking off for a breather and he's still dancing on our roof as I type.

I got wet this morning visiting the workshop but enough was enough; I gave it a miss this afternoon.

We might get sleet and snow this weekend.

              Kind regards, Colin.

We might get sleet on Saturday morning, might.

I used to live in Worcester city and by the river Severn there's a pup close to the bank that got flooded a lot.

Rain in the early hours but it brightened up as the day progressed - sunshine and cloud. 5C/41F

Snow. Cold. Miserable. But it's cozy inside and I have no intentions of going outside until the morning when I take out the recycling bins. :)

Still very little rain and some of the ground is still hard to dig - most of it is now OK. We had frost by 7 p.m. last night and I had to scrape it from the car before going out. I then had to scrape it again before coming home.

Frozen over again now and the roofs, lawns and greenhouse are all white. 35% chance of rain around lunchtime.

A crisp bright start to our day again. High of 9C and a low tonight of -2.
Hopefully they have cleared the fallen tree from down our lane as I have planned for a day in my Dad's garden.

Yes it must be awful. Our lane was flooded in the dip the other day ,haven't been out to see if it's cleared yet. Although we haven't had any significant rain for a couple of days our flood is caused by ' run off ' from the surrounding hills and happens all the time. Thankfully it's no threat to houses etc.:blue thumb:
