As you might be aware, approximately six weeks ago the Lib Dems were in the news for obtaining people's data and using it to profile us all to try and work out which way we would vote, and who they should target.

I did not give any express permission for them to hold my data, so under GDPR and the Data Protection Act, I contacted them by email and asked them to provide me with a PDF copy of all of the data that they held on me, and who they obtained that data from. I requested that they do this within 14 days, but respected the fact that the law allows them 30 days to comply.

They refused to do so until I provided them with a scanned copy of my driving licence, passport or EU ID card. I declined to do so, not least as that would be giving them further data that I did not want them to have, but also that it was quite a ludicrous request as I have taken loans/finance out without having to provide this sort of ID. So, I then suggested that a viable solution was for them to send me a hard copy of all the data that they held on me to my postal address, making it signed for if they so wished.

They have refused again, having taken 34 days to do do, stating that they either need scanned ID as requested before, or scanned copies of two household bills before they will release my information.

So, I have now made and official complaint to the Information Commissioners Office (and I know that they have been quite tough with organisations who are not complying with the law so far) - so I wonder if the Lib Dems will choose to behave a little better with the ICO than they have with me.

 

Is she going to do it by Direct Debit, pete? I think it's very good of her, taking on the National Debt even on her wages.

Own fault really. Coming back on the push iron from a whiskey night, checked for traffic over the shoulder as per and hit the curb. It was not my best experience.

 

I'd expect the type of information each party has to provide would be defined somewhere..? Never done it so have no idea.

 

Correct, hence my suggestion that they send the information by Royal Mail, which as you almost certainly know has to be delivered to the addressee at the specified address, by law.

Maybe not drunk per se but I was certainly happier before I fell off!

 

I'm not bothered about free whisky but free lamb Naga curries would be my choice.
