I've got an "ad hoc* mixed collection of climbing and shrub roses, Gg, gathered over the years and I enjoy every one of them. About 8 to 10 of them line one bank of my wildlife pond and proving a haven of shelter for the birds while the others are scattered over the years and garden. I have R.Compassion, R.Alchemist, and R.Creme de la Creme growing up the sides and roof of my Arbour, while R."Crazy for You" is the one I value the most due to my Wife and I buying that when we both fell in love with it.:wub2::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

@ARMANDII ,..a mixed collection makes it all the more interesting and you have some nice named roses there as well,..nice that both you and your wife fell for Rose ''Crazy For You''.

As we are mentioning names of Roses,..have you or anyone noticed that 'Kew Gardens'' have given a Plant Identification link to a Free facility.

Actually, Gg, I hadn't, but that's a useful bit information and sounds like a useful tool, thanks for letting me know. @woo will be delighted to know as well, as he is our resident Rose Expert.

My nearest neighbor was 87 when she died,..she loved flowers,.. alas wasn't able to maintain any type of garden,..so i offered to give her some of my surplus plants,..some i planted,.. others i left in containers as it is easier to change a containers location and even replace the container with another container with established plants.

The garden as it looked then.

A lovely change Philip. How kind of you. I love the stone wall. We have it on two sides here, dry wall only about a metre high.

@Victoria ,..thanks Victoria,..stones always were a part of my garden and when i moved here it was a bonus to be surrounded by an old stone wall,..my neighbor's garden has one on three sides,..interesting you should have one in Portugal,..a different type of stone i bet.

                Philip

@Updaisy,..initially i was just giving surplus plants,..then of course it progressed to lawn cutting and of course i got hooked on making a simple garden for my neighbor,..however its never simple lol,..still i enjoyed it and my neighbor sat looking at the blooms,..sometimes gave me instructions as well.

@Upsydaisy ,..thank you,..easy grow and care for plants but something to brighten up her day,..she told me she loved pulling back the curtains to see the blooms each morning,..so it gave me encouragement to do better.

I could always tell that my neighbor was doing some weeding or propping up flowers as she used to leave her red handled trowel where ever she had worked,..i never mentioned this and she never commented either way.
