It's a station wagon but that name isn't used over here. It has always been called an estate car. :noidea:

Agree about those blue headlights Mike caught me out on more than one occasion.

well, I reported a vehicle which had red lights on the front, time, place, reg number, make and model you could see it always at the same place and time still took over six months for that person to be cault you would always see the vehicle but no police even after reporting but it got sorted in the end :)

Estate, station wagon... no idea where the names come from but they're also called ridiculous names such as sportback, sport brake; the list goes on!

I think it came about from using that type of vehicle for transporting things between estates. We always got the Head Coachman to do it. :blue thumb:

I love station wagons. Never had one though. I do like my Dodge Grand Caravan. I can stuff a heck of a lot in the back of that. :)

My mustang, well, it can only carry a case of beer and a purse in it's boot. A very small space due to the roof mechanism, etc.

I feel like Elmer Fudd today. Trying to get those wascally wats... Got all three traps loaded with crunchy peanut butter. Hopefully their last meal ;)

Reporters (and their sub-editors) working for major national newspapers should have to pass basic numeracy tests.

Mrs Shiney went to vote earlier on. She handed over her polling card and they asked her for her name.

She said 'I've given you my card and my name is on it'.

Reply was 'it's standard procedure that we have to check your name as well'.

Mrs S: You didn't ask the two people in front of me and if I was someone who was really out to cheat at the election, do you think I wouldn't have looked at the name on the form and told you immediately?'

                      They gave up!

This may sound silly because we know that they are entitled to check identity - but we live in a small village and the woman knows her!

@shiney I once got told that my name is spelled wrong and when I told them no, that is how it is spelt, they disagreed!

Perhaps they were trying to be a smarty pants even though a polling station is no place for that nonsense!

JC is going to wave around a 'secret leaked document' from an unknown source that the election was rigged..:biggrin:

                              Election results
Daughter no1 lives in Sunderland, and volunteers to do the count, she gets £100 for it and the result is usually announced first in the UK

Daugther no2 lives in Glenrothes she also volunteers for the count, she gets £14 an hour

Scottish results come in around 0500

I wonder why there is such a difference in counting times ? :-)

Voters accidentally picking up somebody else's polling card card at home is always a problem, and that's why the polling staff need to check, otherwise when the voter the card was intended for turns up to vote, their name will have already been marked in the register as having voted.
