I've had to pretty much sort through dilemmas most of my life. I've changed out wiriing harnesses in clothes dryers, water pumps in clothes washers, rewired small appliances like lamps and fans, and back in the day, change my own spark plugs, distributor caps and other such things. All out of necessity. I didn't have the dough for the professional repair dudes.

One of my granddaughters, a few minths ago, said, "You know Grandma, you're very manly!". Luckily she explained that what she meant was that I am very handy. Glad she clarified that as I was worried I was starting a beard!

You'd put many a self declared 'DIY man ' to shame!! What an inspiration you are to your granddaughters. They are very lucky to have you as their role model.

Roads are the same here. It annoys me how some drivers try to take advantage by speeding down in the wrong lane and then expect others to let them in.

I see you come from the East Riding of Yourshire. I like watching you tube and the traffic cops from around your area. Stayt Safe.

So Lori. If you do ever grow the fuzz. I will gladly nominate you to the club.

I remember as a kid. A local elderly woman did actually have a beard.

Good for you. It really bugs me when folk, of whatever sex say. Oh I couldn't do that. Have you tried. I ask. No comes the reply. Sorry say I. Had you tried and failed, I'd willingly help you, as you have given up before trying. Sorry.

I grew up having to learn or go without. I've never regretted it. Not only does it give you confidence etc, but I think it makes you appreciate the value of things more.

And here is something for everyone who wants to understand Christmas in Canada. Hmmm, no room in the refrigerator for the Christmas veggies waiting to be cooked for the feast? Your garage becomes a giant refrigerator .. and the snowblower is your helping handle... :heehee: brussels sprouts, acorn squash, beans...

Although not nearly so cold here I also have fruit and veg stored in our garage, so much cooler than indoors.:)

                  But @Upsydaisy do you have a snowblower with a 30" frontage :)

@ARMANDII my Mum, a war bride, always watched the show. I think it was a way to "hear" from home.

Silly soap. But lovely to listen to and not have to take it seriously. My Mom is the main reason I was determined to get "over there".

A wonderful way to keep in touch even though she's long gone. She was only 70 when she went but she was a feisty old bird from the start. Must have been a Yorkshire genetic strength :)

Yes I've got brussel sprouts in the garage. At this time of year the fresh are cheaper than the frozen.

Just made all of the stuffing for the bird and a lot to put in the freezer for the rest of next year.

yes, @ARMANDII :) And I'm sure lots really wish I gave them the "silent" treatment instead of sharing what I am thinking... But I do try to be considerate as well- notice I didn't make any indictments whilst there? Of course most gardeners are perfect people anyway...

I visit the pub for an hour a couple of times a week and all of the men there think of me as "Oakville" Mum. And some of them are in their 70's. One of my "boys" moved up to Thunder Bay (12 hours north of me) and recently posted that his local there had a really good special for draft beer (very large mug) and pop corn. The fellow is already not slim by any means and extra pounds might put strain on his heart, so I told him I'd be sewing a red suit for next Christmas as he is working on his Mall Santa silhouette and he'll need a part time job to afford his bar tab... "Yes, Mum" response...:heehee:

Today I go to a champagne and orange juice brunch hosted by friends about 40k from here. They moved into their new 10 acre property last spring and of course, my housewarming gifts were plants and follow up visits to help maintain them until harvest time. Super nice people and always a pleasant time. I'll have a large orange juice with a whisper of champagne.

Then I have cookie trays to deliver and a few of those to my "kids" at the pub. And also make sure they've got their Uber set up if they have more than one at the pub. "Yes, Mum".

I've also got to visit the Brewers Retail. I need to get some beer in for one of my sons to enjoy tomorrow. He and his family live about 3 blocks from me so he can walk home. "Yes, Mum".

My other son does not drink and he is always appreciated as the dedicated driver for his family and to make it even better, he likes to drive :) I don't care for his style of driving and he got a little annoyed once when I assumed the "crash position" whilst barreling along the highway but he did ease up a bit. "Yes, Mum"... :heehee:

I think I'm going to change my title...

I could swear that when we met on Open Day and you asked me to pass the sandwiches I said "Yes, Mum":dunno:, but maybe it was because you were tapping the table top with that Axe handle.:doh::cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

Eldest son was collected from the station at 11 this morning.....sooooooo very happy that we will get to see all our brood at some point over the holidays. :hapydancsmil::yahoo:
He and his girlfriend went to Norway a couple of weeks ago, so we have been enjoying his pics . He went dog sleighing, saw the northern lights and went to the town that is in the furthest northern point of Norway, they also got to see killer whales too.:)

Popped round to see our neighbours and exchanged gifts and a friend also stopped by on a flying visit too.
Now waiting for a collection request from son No.3, but I think he may have had to work today, so it will possibly be this evening.
Just about to bake some cheese straws and some scones now..... then that will it. Stuffing is done and veg have been prepped and stored ready for the 'off ' tomorrow.

Hubs has made a chicken curry for us all tonight..yummy!:dbgrtmb:
