        Cromwell would have liked me....:heehee:

I've spoken to him since in a friendly tone.... but he now knows to mind his neighbour's rights to enjoy their space too and letting hired help be a source of unnecessary disturbances is unacceptable. The properties on this street are fairly expensive and none of us got our homes by winning a lottery so it's only reasonable expect a degree of respect. :)

And very few have to guess what I'm thinking. I've only really held my tongue once in the past few years and I regret that I did so.

My neighbours also know that they can count on me to help out the best I can. They like my fresh baked breads and goodies.their kids like coming over to chat. One little girl brought her world dancing competition bronze medal over to show me the moment they got home from the airport. :)

P.S. Even the boys at the pub make sure they wash their hands after they've been to the loo. The owner is notorious for letting the paper hand towels run out so if I don't see them wiping their hands dry on their trousers...

I agree, there's very little of it around these days which is one of the reasons I moved to a rural area. The cows answer back from time to time though. :heehee:

When we had our summerhouse built they were told 'no loud music'. They never even brought a radio with them! Although they did laugh, joke and sing all day long. :blue thumb:

Went down today to dig an 'ole. It's for a percolation test to see how fast a certain amount of water will drain away and therefore if a soakaway is suitable, which is the preferred method for this area for dealing with new surface water runoff.

All very specific (ish) and have to go back tomorrow to firstly make sure the water I just filled the hole with has gone and secondly, assuming said water has disappeared, to do 3 sets of timings for the water to empty to 75, 50 and 25%. Could be a long day :(

Been many years since I've been involved with that sort of stuff, but back then those tests weren't supposed to be carried out during abnormal conditions, such as saturated ground following prolonged heavy rainfall.

Maybe the recent weather is now the new normal?

                        Current flood alerts:

Indeed, it's not ideal but I guess sometimes it won't be. Big developments have longer planning so can presumably pick an ideal time, little old householders just wanting an extension such as myself have a smaller window to operate with. Anyhoo the council put the precondition on so they'll get it!
Here now, freezing my nuts off waiting for puddles of water to drain away...

If it passes the test in worst case conditions then you won't have to worry in years to come.

That was my thinking too! Just finished the 3rd round and all seems OK.
Also had another plod around the loft space and came across an old RN tag :) had no idea one of the past residents was also a navy man!
