Anyone Buying Seed For 2020 ?

Although I already have lots of Marrow seeds …




I bought another 2 because they were reduced by 10% - I can't resist a bargain!

 

I always sow my Basil in heated propagators under lights indoors very early, as I've always had trouble with it damping off if starting in/moving into my greenhouse.

 

I think I remember @hydrogardener did very well with basil in a totally hydroponic setup in a mason jar on a windowssill.

 

Thank you. I bought some from the garden centre yesterday in the end. Popped in there to get my seed potatoes, and to find my daughter (3) some gardening gloves that actually fit her! lol

I think it is British Basil that I selected in the end also Selleri! :D Quite happy to have it growing like crazy, as I use it in a lot of recipes and as a topping on pizzas. It's lush!

 

I grow basil all year round hydroponically in the jars, mostly dwarf Greek basil because it is compact and very pungent.

As yet I haven't had to buy any as I have a large stock of seeds, many I harvested myself.
Sowing is well underway and looking it good. Love this part of gardening, certainly brightens up a dull winters day!!

 

Just ordered seeds from Silverhill Seeds; a few Gladioli and Stapelia.

 

Just bought Heliotropium marine, Catharanthus roseus and Lantana camara.

On the veg side red onion Kamal F1 and shallot Zebrune.

 

I'm waiting for my seed order to arrive. One thing is that if something needs to be scarified by cold, it'll happen whilst traveling through out postal system

Purple rain candytuft, siberian blues dianthus, accent red hybrid impatiens, perfecta amaranthus, accent violet hyrbrid impatiens, harlequin mix livingstone daisy seeds, peppermint, summers carnival mix hollyhocks, easter egg plant seeds and fountain blue lobelia. I've never grown any of the above other than mint, so it should, I hope be an exciting time!

Cephalaria gigantea (giant yellow scabious) and giving root trainers a go this year.

 

I was reading a couple of the older threads about Amaranthus and it frightened me. Seems, for some, it self seeds and show up everywhere! Is this because you are in a warmer zone or ?

Seems my busy lizzy is back ordered. They were thrown in just to make up to the 10 packet market to get the special. Now I have to pay separate shipping on them too

 

Honest answer ….. Ive never grown it before but I think it will go well with the tropical feel. It does look like a plant that will have a load of seed so I may end up regretting planting it

 

I grow it every year, never have a problem with it self seeding.

 

I did say that I wasn't going to sow seeds anymore. However! I couldn't sit here twiddling my thumbs, so I got some seed from. Pemeir Seed Direct. Well it will give me something to do.
